The console made to blur out the lines between home and portable console. No matter how beefed up the hardware of a console is, in the end, it is just a way to interact with the games. Nintendo knows this very well.

What does Switch means for Nintendo?

The Switch gave Nintendo a chance to start over again. The Wii U's tablet was an awkward console which was too much underpowered even to support the previous generation games.

Nintendo Switch is powered by a custom Nvidia Tegra system-on-chip. The Switch doesn't stand against the Xbox or the PlayStation in terms of power, but it wins when it comes to "who got better game titles?"

You can easily squeeze more than 2 hours on high graphics demanding titles like Zelda, whereas lower titles can run up to 3 hours.

While buying Switch you should know that it comes with only 32 gigs of on-board storage, so consider buying a bundle with sd card. You would be finding yourself undocking and docking your tablet quite a lot of times, this can lead to a lot of scratches on the tablet screen, therefore a case and screen protector is a must. The joycons are great, but if you have large hands then consider buying a pro controller. A pro controller is a fused version of both the joy cons. Nintendo also offers points when you unlock achievements, do not forget to redeem them for free games.

Although the tablet contains all the hardware required to run games, it performs better in docked mode. It can support games at 1080p resolution, whereas on tablet mode you have to rely on the 720p display. This means that you get better performance in tablet mode and better graphics in docked mode. This is because Nintendo had to optimise graphics for better battery life; this is not the case in docked mode.

Joy-cons in tablet vs desktop mode

The controls work in the same way in both the tablet and docked mode. Although, some motion controls in games like Super Mario Odyssey don't work correctly in tablet mode.

Another point of regret could be the small storage; this means you would have to carry the game cartridges everywhere you go. It is advised to go for the hard copies of the games, as they can be easily shared with a friend, which is not the case with the digital copy.

In the end, it's all about a personal experience, whether you want intense graphics or creative titles.
