A Reality Check

CAST SYSTEM OF INDIA IS THE WORLD'S LONGEST SURVIVING SOCIAL HIERARCHY.

The present scenario of casteism is far more different than earlier. As the time is changing the situation has also changed ,you won’t hear anyone saying that, “you cannot drink water from here” or “you can’t sit with us” and so on , these were the earlier definition of casteism. But do not think the situation does not prevails today andall thanks to the reservation system. Reservation system was started to give opportunities to those who were unprivileged, who were not able to afford the same cost of education and the other facilities. The system was made to provide to equality,but hasthe cause been served ?

I don’t think so. But, it has been very successful in increasing the gap between the rich and the poor. We all fight against the reservation system,but why?Yes, that is true ,that the system is not right in giving a specific community a reservation, it should be given to those who really need it. It should be given to those whose monetary condition is not stable.

Most of us may not be aware of the fact that, 15% of the reservation certificates the people haveare fake,the people possessing that certificate do not actually belong to a community having an aid of reservation . The reason for doing so are many, thatincludes greater job opportunities, more scholarships and admissions onmuch lesser marks than the general community and then we say that, why are they givencertificate, and if this is a problem then why are fake ones being made and used?

As soon as we hear a present belongs to anOBC, SC, ST or any other reserved community, the first thing that comes to our mind is, how lucky he is ,that he has a certificate. No matter how good that child would be in studies and other job related areas,he is always seen as a person who was not deserving and just got a seat, as a mere “donation”-“from”-“the”-“system, with the help of thecertificate. But the reality is that many people even after belonging to the community having a privilege do not take one , they say that if theyhave everything, thata person from a general category would have,then why should they don’t fight like one of them?

The pattern of the reservation system should be changed. The reservation should be given to the peopleon the basis of their monetary status and not on the basis of the community they belong to. There should be a specific per annul income being set and the people having salary below it, should be given a reservation. Then only the situation could be called as empowering of the unprivileged, because they are the ones who actually need to be empowered.
