I believe summer is the best time to travel. Itis in summer that most of us get long summer breaks , children as well as the working population. So,here I am listing out a few summer destinations for short picnics and long tours. The below listed are the places where I have gone to and also where my friends have been. I feel it would be better sharing this list , where all those who love to travel are often confused about.

The worst part about summer is the scorching sun.And that is what makes usvisit cool hill stations , which lie in both ,the South and North India. So , let’s start:

1. Wayanad

Wayanad is a small hill station in Kerala, where traditional spices , tea and coffee are cultivated.Wayanad welcomes everyone with its beautifully landscaped tea estates.Elephants and deers are the often seen animals in the forest here. There are only a very few hairpin bends to reach Wayanad. Also, there lies a tree of historical beliefs, which the tribes of the area still conduct poojas .Banasura Sagar Dam is another tourist spot. There are also luxurious hotels which serve tasty food out of the spices grown there , guests can also avail ayurvedic spa and treatments , which foreigners are most attracted to. Hence , the resorts and offers here often attract the tourists. There is also Edakkal Caves which is of historical importance again. Most of the spots here have some sort of historical stories to say.

2. Munnar and Vagamon

This is another destination in Kerala, which actually lies in the Kerala Tamilnadu border.Munnar is also popular for its tea States and the tea factories here can also be visited, where they explain the process and goodness of tea. Boating at Munnar is another attraction, also the Echo point .There is also a Rose garden which is very common in every other hill stations as well.Mattupetty Dam is the other place for sightseeing. There lies a long row of shops which sell wooden items, dry flowers and the fresh vegetables. So, all these places can be visited within a day itself. Most of these spots lie close to each other making it less time consuming.Munnar , is good for short picnics .

Vagamon is similar to Munnar and is the best place for the ones who love clicking pictures. The scenic beauty of Vagamon is rarer than any other hill stations of Kerala.

3. Mysuru- 'Retired men's paradise'

This is not a hillstation, but has the best climate and atmosphere.Eventhough it lies very close to the busiest city , Bengaluru, it does not have any such rushes nor big crowds. It is the best place to settle, having parks in every other residential areas and calm neighbourhoods.Talking about the historical importance of this place, there is so much to see, mainly the places of Tipu Sultan , his museums and so on.Mysuru Palace is the very well known monument here, which attracts crowd especially during the Dusshera festival and also on weekends during the lightings. The best thing about Mysuru is the structure if this well-planned city, where we never get lost, the round -abouts found across the city makes it easy to reach our destinations, even if we take the wrong direction. The new spot here is the Shuka Vana and Bonsai Garden, which is actually inside an ashram , which lies very close to the Mysuru airport.

4. Kodaikanal and Ooty

Both these are the popular hill stations of Tamilnadu, each different at its own beauty.Kodaikanal is often known as "Princess of Hills" and Ooty as the "Queen of hill stations".Both stand out for its beautiful lakes and Rose garden. The nature here is again another breathtaking beauty.Bisons can be seen often in Kodaikanal, and the Tibetan shopping centres around the lake make it look more colorful. Also, there lies a small village in Kodaikanal, where most of the vegetables are cultivated. As in every hillstation, monkeys jump here and there on seeing the tourists and that is how they welcome us!

That was about a few often visited summer destinations in the south.Coming to the north, lies another list of mountains, rich at its ethnic traditions .Shimla , Mussoorie, Badrinath,Gulmarg , Manali etc attracts tourists every summer. The rare flora and fauna of this region is another attraction .One of my friends is presently enjoying at Manali, and this is the picture she had shared to me...captioning it,'This place is heaven😇'.
