An invitation to a cocktail party is the most common type of invitation that all the guys out there get. And whenever we think of a cocktail party, the attire that comes to our mind is semi-formal. Traditional men only used to wear suits to a party. But thanks to the fashion innovations that men have a huge range of clothes to choose from. Here is some attire which you can try for a superficial cocktail party look:

1. Suit:
This is the most common attire as we already mentioned. A perfectly tailored suit with or without a tie is a classic masterpiece. This can enhance the masculinity of any man. The only catch is that it should fit you well.

2. Shirts:
It is very important to wear a shirt that matches your suit. This is the reason why you should always stick to neutral colors. The colors most recommended are white, navy blue and grey. This colors practically go with anything. But, while selecting patterns it is better to stick to checks and stripes. The shirt should not overpower the suit and should not pop out on its own. And as for materials it is recommended to wear cotton or linen fabric. These will enhance your appearance and make you look sophisticated.

3. Shoes and Socks:
A pair of formal shoes and socks are a must for cocktail attire. It is important to keep your shoes clean and shiny and also the socks should be at the level of your calf muscles in order to cover your leg skin. Showing off of the skin is not appreciated and does not look elegant as well. The patterns in the socks are acceptable but again they should not be overpowering.

4. Accessories
The accessories in a cocktail attire provide a significant difference between this and formal attire. As far as the essentials are concerned, a quirky pocket square or a boutonniere provides just the right amount of edge. It is soft and subtle yet glamorous. A nice statement watch and cufflinks will complete the look. Well, accessories do not always mean the add ons. But it also stands for how groomed you are. A neat haircut and a fresh shave will always make you prominent. And the absence of these can also make you stand out, but obviously for all the wrong reasons.
