Reading would enhance your vocabulary in a new language and speaking would make you perfect. Try watching news and shows in target language. It'll help you learning the basics forms and functions in a particular language.

Learn vocabulary, numbers, alphabet and few basic terms in the target language

Learn two-language list I.e. learning vocabulary in target language through grammar translation method. Try relating basic information to your mother tongue and itll be helpful if you learn basic greetings in the language you're learning. Learner should know how Hello in that particular language is said or what are the gesture made when saying Thank You!

Try to do all grocery chores in target language, say making list in that particular format or calculating the balance/amount in that language.

Pronunciation

work on your pronunciation. Use audio-lingual method to learn pronunciation. It is difficult to learn it through reading so try communicating and dont worry about making mistakes. Errors are the sign of learning. Try to correct your pronunciation and don't bother about the accent.

Don't be afraid of making mistake

I've said earlier that errors are the sign of learning. Commit mistake, create lapse, correct them and boom...You are perfect. Don't ever be afraid of committing errors. All language learning theories have space for errors.

Use dictionary

Carry dictionary with you all the time and consult it when you need to find a particular terminology. You can mark the termsa d itll help you look at the words right in the time. Carrying dictionary will help you consume your spare time. You can look at other words when standing in a queue or waiting for a tram.

Learning a new language is not an easy task but one can be successful if they show commitment towards the language and work hard on their learning and acquisition power.
