"Zubi..."
Somebody called her.
She ignored.
"Zubiiiii....."
The voice came again.
She looked back.
"I'm calling you for so long, were you
pretending not listening to me??"
His question was direct, like always.
"Yes"
Her reply was sharp, as always.
He felt quite.
"I'm sorry for what I've done."
"Its okay"
She answered short.
He knew there isn't anything which is okay.
"I shouldn't be doing that. I shouldn't ask you to leave our home."
"That wasn't your fault, it was the alcohol Sahir....the wine....your beloved."
She was distressed.
"I'm sorry, I don't know what has happened to me that time. I was dejected."
"That's not done sahir, you do this every time.. every freaking time."
Tear rolled down her cheek.
"I'm a human, not a puppet"
She sobbed.
Someone clenched his heart.
"I felt so broken when you left, I'm nothing without you. I can't imagine my life without you zubi. I'm sorry...I'm so so sorry. Promise me you won't leave me, ever."

He cried.
"Let's go home, please......"
She hold the hand of her five years old son and he followed him.
×-----×
"I won't drink again."
He promised her.
She knew how long it'll last.
"I would never ask you to leave....Never."
She smiled as if she knows the truth.
"I love you today and will always love you.."
She couldn't smile. This is the TRUTH, the only truth in her life.
"I would never make you cry, just don't say that you hate me."
She closed her eyes and pretended as if shes sleeping. She had no idea that he is serious.
She turned away and her whole life flashed before her eyes.
She was 21 when she get married. She belonged to a very traditional family, a sayyid family where good daughters never deny to what their parents ask them. His father wanted her to get married with one of his friend's son so she said Yes. She wasn't in a position to question any of his decisions. Sahir has seen her somewhere and then he sent his proposal to her family.

Excited that her daughter will marry a son of his business friend, he didn't bothered to investigate about the groom. It was her wedding night when she found out that he drinks and the drunk sahir was totally differentfrom the normal sahir.

Normal sahir never abuses her, drunk sahir did!
Normal sahir never asked her to leave his house, drunk sahir did!
Normal sahir was the poet and so was the drunk sahir!
Normal sahir said he love her and so does drunk sahir!
And it was true.
He loves her wholeheartedly.
Life wasn't going as smooth as she has expected it but it was tolerable.
"I'm happy now. she thought.
And then one day, he came drunk AGAIN and the drunk man guarantees no logic. One thing led to another and he stumbled her out of his house. She spent that night at the doorstep. He apologised her next morning. Then it happened second time, then again, and again and again, abuses and apology, abuses and apology......and untill this morning it was his habit.

Last night when he threw her out of the house, she didn't spent her night at the gate. She left the yard and went to railway station. Empty handed, holding the hand of her five years old son, she left the city. She came back to her hometown at her parent's. She didn't contact sahir neither picked his call. But today in the morning, he came looking for her.

"Zubi"
He called her.......
×-----×
"You don't drink now?"
She asked him, smiling.
He looked at her. Raindrops were still visible on the window glass.
"No"
Came the one word answer.
"Not even when it rains??"
She teased him.
"Barish Sharab e arsh hai yeh soch kar Adam
Barish Key sab huroof ko ulta key pi gaya."
He recited looking at her.
She smiled back.
.....and they lived happily ever after.

The End.
Happy Reading.
