Anorexia nervosais an eating disorder generated psychologically, in which people avoid eating due to the fear of gaining weight.The perception of being thin and lean is fascinated by the people. They follow extreme behavioural patterns like starving oneself and over excercising to achieve 0% fat in the body. It is the third most dangerous mental disorder which causes death among women and teens.

Bulivia nervosa , also an eating disorder indulges binge eating and then taking compensatory measures . Some them being:

·Vomiting
·Use of laxatives
·Excessive exercising
·Fasting
The two conditions co-exist.

Causes of Anorexia:
The desire to attain a thin body size, the epitomy of a perfect body as reinforced into the minds (especially teenagers) by the glamour industry.

Peer pressure among friends and at work place to look thin and attractive.
Any kind of sexual abuse and body shaming in childhood or otherwise also leads to a disturbed pschye regarding the body size.

Symptoms:
·Loss or thinning of hair
·Abnormal menstrual cycles
·Avoiding social gatherings and functions.
·Depression and a lethargic state
·Substance abuse
·Self harm and suicide

Long term effects of Anorexia:
Nearly 90% of women with anorexia experience osteopenia (loss of bone calcium) and 40% have osteoporosis ( advance loss of bone density) which usually permanent.

Infertility can be occur to those following an extreme and a rigorous routine.
Most common cause of death in anorexics is heart disease.

Cure for Anorexia:
Since the condition usually pertains to a psychological disorder. Proper psychological therapies need to be undertaken along the medication.

More nutritional food must be engaged in the meal with a planned diet.
Men and women both are vulnerable towards developing anorexia but women are 10 times more prone towards developing it. Young girls, especially from the glamour industry tend to fall for the disorder as they relate their esteem and worth to the unrealistic body images created by the modelling industry and media.

The term anorexia was not identified much within the Indian society. And many people even at the present date are not aware of the psychological aspect it is related to. It is only in the past decade that this term has been introduced andmade aware of. With many celebrities coming in the light and sharing their own story.
