Sim cards have always been the most important component of a mobile phone and due to this component only we are able to connect and call our friends,family and without sim cards a mobile phone is just an entertainment box(if it is a smartphone) . A sim card is a small chip that stores some unique identification number that helps us to connect to a particular service or network provider and also allows to use the communication(calling/messageing) feature of our cell phones. But with companies increasing the features of their smartphones and making them more powerful and handy, space has always been a major problem in development and due to this smartphone companies are removing some components from their gadgets like headphone jack and now they have decided to replace the physical sim cards with latest i-sim cards(integrated sim cards).

I-sim is the latest technology that is developed by chip designer company ARM and it is some what similar to e-sim(embedded sim). The idea of ARM's latest project is to integrate the sim card on SOC and remove the physical sim tray so that smartphones can have more space to introduce some new tech in them or upgrade their hardwares with users needs. ARM says that with the help of this i-sim the idea of IoT with get more practical and easy and the cost of smartphone will also get reduced by factor of 3.

According specialist at Intel ISIM will provides flexibility in business and deployment models, and will also enable more services and will simplify OEM logistics. The implementation of Isim can eliminate sku proliferation and this can lower bill of materials cost.

With this i-sim technology ARM says that introducing 5G in upcoming smartphones with be more easier and convinent and its will also provide a good data connectivity to the users. I-sim will also provide more security as compared to traditional sims as sim card cloning will not be possible with this tech and since it will be in the SOC so losing sim card will never happen and tracking your lost phone will be much easier and convinient. It is said that coming smartphones and IoT devices will have this latest i-sim in them, so that our connectivity with such IoT enabled devices will get more convinent and experiencing IoT will be more exciting.
