This article grabs everything that I have lived, thought, felt and experienced during one of my internships. Whenever we plan an internship what is the very first thing we dream about? Off course apart from stipend! We dream about learning something new. Some new tools, some trending technologies, some of the different aspects of seeing the same things.
All of this certainly counts to our skill set but I say there is something other than all of this that remains deeply buried inside us, unnoticed, unspoken. And that’s the unusual experience that you gain during this period. Look, if we take upon the regular practice that is going on, we see that the firms hire developers, they are trained for a minimum of two months. This is the time when one can actually lay focus upon the needs of the company, the tools to be used and so on.
But, while we are interning we are stepping up to something professional, something practical, apart from the theory that we licked all the time in college. So during the course of an internship, the better utilization of time would be to observe the system, to push ourselves to be a part of it, to enquire more, to discuss more. That will be a major development that we require even more.
Certainly, a boy shouldn’t be writing this much just after his maiden internship, but that is something I really felt the need of. Remember, when we first learnt the mole concept in class nine or something, we were given the example of the vendor selling bananas and mangoes and we related the entire theory of mole concept with it.
That is the case here, Learning languages over languages at this moment without actually being aware of its usage after 5 or 10 years is just like performing the stoichiometric calculation without knowing the value of the Avogadro’s constant. As simple as that. My message here is just that when you are on a professional internship, also try to resolve the complete atmosphere around you along with developing your skills. Because maybe, a completely different skill set is required when you enter the battle field, but the work plan, the professional experience that you gain will always be there with you. This will certainly get you trained for a longer race and one will certainly feel confident if he lays focus on what he is to do for the starting few months at a firm instead of getting stained in learning languages, programming softwares and performing typical activities like testing, validating etc.
