What exactly is the role of a father in a child’s life? The role of a father is to contribute to the growth and development of a child in every aspect, physically to mentally, everything. A father's role is to make sure that his child or children don’t lack any necessities of the life. The father's role is important because it has an overall influence on the social, emotional, and intellectual development of the child. Fathers have an opportunity to relive their own father child relationship and parent their own children in a way that contributes positively to the child's growth and development. Raising a child involves father’s participation, a large income and daily contact with both the parents.
Father’s participation in raising a child
A father's participation in a son's life is more significant. Why so is because often a son is trying to be what their father is or what their father is representing. A son growing up with a father figure would make his life easier and more structured. A son having a positive role model makes him have certain insight on things that only a father could provide. It will give the son knowledge of what it is really like to be a man and what it takes to make it in this manly world we live in today. The advice that a father gives to his son, he will never forget; it is considered as a lifelong lesson. As in the poem "Advice to My Son", the father gives the son advice that he will stick in his mind forever. He gives the son advice on how to live his life to the fullest and how to look at the world and make the most of it.
Importance of paternity leave
Many of the companies are now giving paternity leave to the newly become fathers to give them time to spend with their infants. This helps them to learn every aspect of good parenting. It helps them to support their wives and to take care of both mother and children.
Some of the companies give paternity leaves to their employees like Microsoft – 12 weeks, Infosys – 5 days, Facebook – 17 weeks, TCS – 15 days.
Also, the fathers should focus on every aspect from sports to career interest, study to extra-curricular activities, which affect their child’s growth, and always support their children’s decisions if they are correct.
