Even in this 21st century in the era of high tech gadgets when the postman rings the bell, we will get excited about some reasons. P.S I Love You (English - 2007)
Through the 10 letters from her late husband succored to be the reason for her to live life. Her late husband prepared the letters before his death as a gift to his wife on her solitude to make her smile without breakdown. Each letter was received by the female lead on different occasions. The letters gave her enough strength to ease her pain and made her realize the hidden flair for designing shoes. Letters give her immense confidence to emerge from her solitude and find happiness.
Welcome to Sajjanpur ( Hindi -2008)
This movie is revolving around the main lead who is unemployed yet his real ambition was to become a novel writer. He was forced to make living by writing letters for the uneducated people of his village. He doesn’t realize own writing potential which has an impact on other’s lives until a particular event happened. His letters made an impact on the disrespectful son of her aunt. This made an impression on the village about his writing potential and made him be confident in his writings. From there, he started to catch his dreams by setting up a small place near the post office to help others to convey their emotion through letters.
Heaven’s Postman (Korean -2009)
A plot set between two people, one who was a promising young CEO of an IT company who unexpectedly becomes a heaven’s postman and woman who writes a letter full of resentment to her loved ones. The male lead delivers letters from the grieving people to their loved ones in heaven. After their meeting, they start to share feelings but they can’t spend time together as one is human and the other is heaven’s postman. The whole story revolves around them through letters.
The Letter Writer (English -2011)
A mysterious letter made the female lead to be curious about the author. She never felt that she lived up to parent’s expectations and hence considered herself as a rebel. The letter made her introspect herself through her journey to find the author. The letter changed her totally into a new person where she gets enough courage to face any problems in life. Her transformation from an old person to a new person is visible in the whole film.
Orange (Japanese -2015)
The female protagonist during her second year of the school abruptly receives letters from herself, but ten years into the future. The letters were like a warning for her to prevent the “biggest threat ” from happening. First, she didn’t believe but gradually she found that something is going to happen to her classmate (male lead). With her friends, she prevents several events to protect the male lead from all the bad things with the help of the letter.
