Corruption, in one form or another, is a worldwide phenomenon. But everyone admits that corruption is something ugly, and immoral .Unfortunately, in our country, corruption has become a part of life.It has entered the very roots of the Indian society. Our ministers are corrupt; our officers are corrupt; our people are corrupt.Every politician, without exception, is corrupt. The law of a our country to tackle corruption at the level it has reachedis too weak to deal with it.

One of the greatest dangers to our country is not from outside, but from inside. And it is not so much from anti social elements, but from the so called most respectable personslike corrupt leaders, bureaucrats and employees. At present, corruption has crossed all limits. It has spread from the highest to the lowest sections of society. And it is shameful to know that we are considered among the top few most corrupt countries of the world.

The present position is such that a common man feels greatly harassed. He cannot get anything done without bribing the concerned officials. A file cannot move from one table to the another unless it is made to move with the help of a bribe. In all routine matters like getting a telephone connection, getting a telephone or an electric meter repaired, getting a loan sanctioned, getting a licence approved, getting a new hob and even getting selected in an interview or admitted to some course, one has to pay huge sums in the form of bribe or donation.

There is no surprise today , that India is a land of scams. We have had a number of scams like the securities scam, Bofors scam, Hawala scam, urea scam, sugar scam, wheat scam, housing scam and even Fodder scam, besides several bank scams. The rich and the mighty have all the facilities to enjoy life while the poor have to suffer and make one sacrifice after the other.

It is a big issue of our country today. But it can be sloved if we fight it with unity and sincerity. Strong boards like the U.P.S.C. should be organized to deal with anti-social elements.Persons of strong character should be employed. The Government employees must be told to withstand any temptation while discharging their duties. The education system of the country should be re-oriented to inculcate a spirit of honesty amongst the people. The law of the land should bemore effective to deal with the corrupt elements.Corruption, at any small level, is bad.The Government should launch acampaign against suchsocial evils. We as indiviuals should stand against corruption and should say no to corruption in any form . Charity, however, must begin at home.
