Why No Water In Chennai?

It has been seen that because of the lack of water in Chennai IT Companies are asking people to work from home. There is a critical situation at Chennai.it has been seen that till June 16 it has been 191 days that Chennai has not received rain. This has broken the record over the last 10 years. In 2015 the same situation happened but in December there were heavy rains and there was a flood at Chennai. If water is in excess and even if. It is not there then it will be a problem. This is not the fault of water it is based on how effective we use them.

In Chennai, there are three rivers that are equally placed and running they are located at north, middle and south. The names of these rivers are the Cooum, the Adyar, and the Kosasthalaiya. When there are these rivers why Chennai has water scarcity problem? Because these rivers are carrying the waste and drainage from factories and also from the household.The water problem has increased so much in Chennai that one man just hit his neighbor because of a water motor. In Thanjavur a social activist who cares for water fight with some people who wasted water but got scoldings. Many years back the British government has built a canal known as Buckingham Canal. Then there is this Canal? This is the Canal above which our Metro railways are built and nowadays it carries drainage. There are 4000 acres of water bodies and above most of these places Buildings like factories, apartments have been built. People today in Tamilnadu are fighting for water

In the 19th century, there was the same problem and a British emperor thought why there is water problem in Chennai even though it has 3 rivers and many lakes so he built the Buckingham Canal,which starts from Tamilnadu and ends at Andhra Pradesh. He but this because he wanted to unite these water bodies through this canal to solve the water problem. In 1936 this canal was extended.

The population of Tamil Nadu is 8 crores bit the population of Chennai is more than one crore it's overpopulated. In Chennai in the name of development, we are destroying the nature and closing the rivers and lakes. The main source of water for Chennai are 4 lakes including Chembarambakam and red hills but in these lakes, the availability of water is less than 80%. Then what are the sources of water for Chennai? The areas valasaravakam, mughaperu, adambakam, kulatur, ulagaram, maduravayul, kulacheri are built over lakes. We have destroyed the water sources by building apartments and colleges. The three rivers the Cooum, the Adyar, and the Kosasthalaiyahave been dumped with drainage from this overpopulated city and they are fully contaminated this is the main reason for water scarcity at Chenna.So in the name of development please don't waste water and destroy water sources.
