I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice-cream!

Frozen dessert is a dessert made by freezing liquids, semi-solids, and sometimes even solids. They may be based on flavored water, on fruit purées, on milk and cream, on custard, on mousse, and others. It is sometimes sold as ice-cream in South Asia and other countries.

In today's article we are going to learn about some of the frozen desserts, yes there are things more than the regular milk ice-cream we consume.

Let's begin.

1. ICE-CREAM

Ice-cream is a sweetened frozen food typically eaten as a snack or dessert. It is usually made from dairy products, such as milk and cream, and often combined with fruits or other ingredients and flavors. It is typically sweetened with sugar or sugar substitutes.

2. Gelato

Gelato is a frozen dessert popular in Italy. It is generally a mixture of custard, cream, and milk, without eggs. Gelato is made with a base of milk and sugar. It is generally lower in fat than other styles of ice cream.

3. Sherbet

Sherbet or Sherbert a frozen fruit and dairy product that contains anywhere from 1 percent to 2 percent milkfat from milk or cream. Anything below 1 percent is referred to as water ice, anything between 2 and 10 percent is considered a frozen dairy dessert, and anything above 10 percent is generally labeled ice-cream.

4. Sorbet

On the other hand, sorbet usually implies a fruit-based frozen dessert with little to no dairy — although the use of the term Sorbet is unregulated. To add to the confusion, in other parts of the world, Sherbet may refer to a fizzy powder stirred into beverages, or a beverage made of diluted fruit juice.

5. Frozen Yogurt

Frozen yogurt is made without any cream. Instead bacteria cultures are added to an ice cream base to emulsify the dairy solution. It tends to yield a soft mouth feel and the added bacterial cultures is what gives frozen yogurt its pro-biotic element. A trend has been to start using Greek yogurt as the base. Greek yogurt has about double the amount of protein to regular yogurt and is strained more intensely to remove excess liquid whey and lactose making it a thicker and creamier texture.

6. Granita

Granita is a semi-frozen dessert made from sugar, water and various flavorings. Originally from Sicily, it is available throughout Italy in varying forms. It is related to Sorbet and Italian ice; however, in most of Sicily, it has a coarser, more crystalline texture.

7. Marquise

Chocolate Marquise is a rich chocolate dessert made with dark chocolate, butter, sugar, cocoa powder, eggs and cream.

8. Kulfi

Kulfi has similarities to ice cream in appearance and taste; however it is denser and creamier. It comes in various flavours. The more traditional ones are made by adding cream, rose, mango, cardamom, saffron, and pistachio. There are newer variations such as apple, orange, strawberry, peanut, and avocado. Unlike ice-cream, kulfi is not whipped, resulting in a solid, dense frozen dessert similar to traditional custard-based ice-cream.

So this was all for today, let me know what should I post about in the next WrytUp in the comments section below, I *cone* not thank the readers enough for the love 😍 ( sorry for the ice-cream joke haha).
