“The world is big and I want to have a good look at it before it gets dark.”
Aren’t we all whirling around the same monotonous life? Aren’t we all trapped in a repetitive domain of grinding ourselves from dawn to dusk? Aren’t we all working towards achieving something so recklessly that we are forgetting our own self? And often, aren’t we confining ourselves to our beds when not working? So much of our daily life is spent inside, with the insipid, chattering preoccupations that distance us from ourselves.
Being a couch-potato myself, I agree how lovely the idea of cocooning in cozy bed and netflixing all day sounds. But is this what we are planning to do with the rest of our lives? Is this what living life to the fullest mean? Ask yourself and you might dismiss the very idea of it.
"There’s more to life than just working, sleeping or netflixing all day."
There lies a beautiful world outside which wants us to get our lazy ass out of our bed, which has a way of removing distractions, and of commanding our deepest attention. It has an unbelievable capacity of healing and surely can heal us all only if we take pains to step outside our grim walls, if we take ourselves away from society’s flaws and distractions.
"Solitude is the only way one can fully adhere to what nature has to offer."
And by solitude, one doesn’t mean being alone whilst reading or writing or not being in the company of anyone, rather retiring into the wilderness and seeking inspiration from tiniest of things.
Get your lazy ass out of bed and take it to places where things as simple as deer browsing in meadows or a bird engrossed in feeding its young ones would leave you in profound delight. Take it to places where millions of stars would continue to amaze you and every wisp of wind and every roll of thunder would echo in your ears in peaceful rhythm.
Take it to places where every blossoming flower would turn the hue of your cheeks into crimson red and the busyness of bees would calm your restless mind. Take it to places where the drops of heavenly water would ease your body as they slide down your skin.
Take it to places where the breathtaking alps would make you realize how tiny you and your predicaments are and where the solitary trees would teach you perseverance. Where the waves of sea would remind you how fascinating the planet is, and how little you know, despite what you think you do.
Take it to places where rolling stream with all its back and forth descend mountains, accelerates on a wave, catch eddies through a rapid and makes you realize how the journey of life is a wave, a curve, a sinuous path.
Take it to places where you realize your significance lies in such potential, in that quiet recognition of the stardust in your bones and the oceans in your minds, knowing that a new sunrise paints your sky each day.
Is it so difficult to move beyond the binding sphere of chaos once in a while and explore the depths of nature? Is it so difficult for us to let happiness, peace, dignity, hope and honour supersede anger, sadness, disappointment and competition? Is it so difficult to give the sceptre in the hands of nature, not to make blood rush through cheeks but to let it flow in its unperturbed essence? Is it so difficult to take a much needed break from the drudgeries of life to get back the spirit of soul?
I don’t think it is.
“There is a whole world out there, right outside your window. You’d be a fool to miss it.”
