Then, when they come to thee, they greet thee with a greeting God never greeted thee withal ; and they say within themselves, ' Why does God not chastise us for what we say ? ' Sufficient for them shall be Gehenna, at which they, shall be roasted - - an evil homecoming!
  क्या तुमने नहीं देखा जिन्हें कानाफूसी से रोका गया था, फिर वे वही करते रहे जिससे उन्हें रोका गया था । वे आपस में गुनाह और ज़्यादती और रसूल की अवज्ञा की कानाफूसी करते है । और जब तुम्हारे पास आते है तो तुम्हारे प्रति अभिवादन के ऐसे शब्द प्रयोग में लाते है जो शब्द अल्लाह ने तुम्हारे लिए अभिवादन के लिए नहीं कहे । और अपने जी में कहते है," जो कुछ हम कहते है उसपर अल्लाह हमें यातना क्यों नहीं देता ?" उनके लिए जहन्नम ही काफ़ी है जिसमें वे प्रविष्ट होंगे । वह तो बहुत बुरी जगह है, अन्त नें पहुँचने की!

• and that He may chastise the hypocrites, men and women alike, and the idolaters men and women alike, and those who think evil thoughts of God ; against them shall be the evil turn of fortune. God is wroth with them, and has cursed them, and has prepared for them Gehenna - - an evil homecoming!
  और कपटाचारी पुरुषों और कपटाचारी स्त्रियों और बहुदेववादी पुरुषों और बहुदेववादी स्त्रियों को, जो अल्लाह के बारे में बुरा गुमान रखते है, यातना दे । उन्हीं पर बुराई की गर्दिश है । उनपर अल्लाह का क्रोध हुआ और उसने उनपर लानत की, और उसने उनके लिए जहन्नम तैयार कर रखा है, और वह अत्यन्त बुरा ठिकाना है!

• They swear by Allah that they did not speak, and certainly they did speak, the word of unbelief, and disbelieved after their Islam, and they had determined upon what they have not been able to effect, and they did not find fault except because Allah and His Apostle enriched them out of His grace ; therefore if they repent, it will be good for them ; and if they turn back, Allah will chastise them with a painful chastisement in this world and the hereafter, and they shall not have in the land any guardian or a helper.
  वे अल्लाह की क़समें खाते है कि उन्होंने नहीं कहा, हालाँकि उन्होंने अवश्य ही कुफ़्र की बात कही है और अपने इस्लाम स्वीकार करने के पश्चात इनकार किया, और वह चाहा जो वे न पा सके । उनके प्रतिशोध का कारण तो यह है कि अल्लाह और उसके रसूल ने अपने अनुग्रह से उन्हें समृद्ध कर दिया । अब यदि वे तौबा कर लें तो उन्हीं के लिए अच्छा है और यदि उन्होंने मुँह मोड़ा तो अल्लाह उन्हें दुनिया और आख़िरत में दुखद यातना देगा और धरती में उनका न कोई मित्र होगा और न सहायक

• As for the unbelievers, I will chastise them with a terrible chastisement in this world and the next ; they shall have no helpers. '
  तब जिन बातों में तुम में झगड़े करते थे तुम्हारे दरमियान फ़ैसला कर दूंगा पस जिन लोगों ने कुफ़्र इख्तेयार किया उनपर दुनिया और आख़िरत सख्त अज़ाब करूंगा और उनका कोई मददगार न होगा

• But Allah was not going to chastise them while you were among them, nor is Allah going to chastise them while yet they ask for forgiveness.
  और अल्लाह ऐसा नहीं कि तुम उनके बीच उपस्थित हो और वह उन्हें यातना देने लग जाए, और न अल्लाह ऐसा है कि वे क्षमा - याचना कर रहे हो और वह उन्हें यातना से ग्रस्त कर दे

• And let not their property and their children excite your admiration ; Allah only wishes to chastise them with these in this world and their souls may depart while they are unbelievers
