Count your age by friends, not years. Count your life by smiles, not tears.―John Lennon

We live in an era of all-round development. With the changing times, we have achieved a lot

of progress in every sphere of life. Time is never static and we have achieved a lot of
progress in every sphere of life. Our forefathers could never have expected such advancements that have surpassed their every endeavor.

This is the age of science. We have made enormous progress in natural sciences. Subsequently, our standard of living had improved tremendously. Numerous inventions and discoveries give us the opportunity to fulfill our needs and desires. For us, the sky is the limit and we can meet every wishful thinking. Modes of transportation and means of communication have brought us together making this world a small place.

Our hard labor is reduced by machines and electrical appliances. This adds to our comfort
and makes our life easier. We can use our free time to relax tensed nerves by a variety of
recreation and entertainment sources. With the advancement in medical sciences, today we
do not leave a sick person to his fate. Instead, the person can be given the latest treatment
and maybe a new life.

We have overcome many prevalent foolish customs and social evils. We have come out of
the fair of superstitions and ignorance. Our women folk are no longer subject to customary
confinement. Be it home or at work, they contribute a lot to our progress in every field. Our
social sphere has improved.
This is also an age of nuclear development. There is a strong desire for power and we suffer
from its aftereffects. Even though we have so much for our comfort, our survival is not so
easy. We all are in the rat race for obtaining more and more. We are not contented with
what we have. This has made us cruel and selfish. We are gradually forgetting our spiritual
values. Our own creations are threatening our future with danger. We have to hunt for
reasons to feel happy. We are surrounded by worries, tensions, and restlessness. We have
lost peace of our mind.

The question remains –Are we really happy today ? in some ways we are and in other ways
we are not. a rose is never without a thorn and so is it with us that we have acquired more
for our comfort and less for our peace, that leaves us yet unsatisfied with the life we live.
