Engineering has established itself as one of the most, if not the most, pursued fields all over the world and especially in India for the past several decades. Engineers are the only ones among all the others out there who have the power to invent and innovate. Engineers like Nikola Tesla, Leonardo da Vinci, Archimedes, Elon Musk and countless others have changed the course of history with their inventions and ideas with the help of their brilliant minds and their out of the box thinking. Engineers have the power to make and break. But in the last few decades all engineering studies have become is a way to secure a good job with a decent salary and a happy ending to this mortal human life.

A simple Google search would tell you that around 1.5 million engineers pass out every year from colleges all across the country but most of them lack the basic skill set to get a good job. What is established from this is that quality of engineers produced has dropped severely. But this is not entirely the case. The same Google search will also tell you that in the past few years engineers have emerged as really successful entrepreneurs. The trend of engineering students becoming “employers” instead of “employees” has become a part of the scenario recently and is also becoming a common thing in our country thanks to the west. This is still not very common but it wouldn’t take much time to change in this fact. Startups and businesses started by these “creators” around us have captured the market in a short span of time. Engineers have established themselves as successful entrepreneurs not only in their own field but also in other fields. Engineers around the world are owners of million dollar multinational corporations, e commerce giants and many other businesses which workaround not only the stuff related to engineering but stuff related to other fields which might be considered more creative than engineering by some. This has created a lot of employment opportunities for people around the globe and given them a chance to explore something new and different in many cases. Pursuing Engineering just to be employed is a rudimentary concept now and this mentality is starting to chance at a good rate. Engineers out there have started their journey from being “Job seekers” to becoming “Job creators” but they still have a long way to go.
