Many a times, while in the middle of a conversation we hear “Oh common! Age is just a number”. Though we often hear this, people in our friend circle, neighborhood, office, school etc are quick to judge our actions on the basis of our age especially in issues like marriage, higher education, decision to extend your family, job and so many more. In some cases even we ourselves consider age as a roadblock to try something new or different to which I feel the only answer is ”Age is the issueIn fact all of us must have come across the below examples:
1) You are already 25, when do you plan to get married?
2) He is 24 and isn’t earning!
3) You are 26, why leave your job and go for an MBA?
4) Hey, you are almost 30! You should now plan your family!
5) Come On! You are 28, stop acting like a teenager!
6) You are too old to try this!
The above are just a few examples.
Not only are such things annoying for the person to hear but it at times also de-motivates the person from making a particular choice. When we ask people to be true to themselves and live by their choices, we as a society should not judge or question people or their decision to do something especially because of their age. We must understand that each of us face different circumstances and are at different stages of our life to which we respond in our own way, therefore we have complete right to make the choice we want irrespective of our age.
It’s extremely important to live our life to the fullest and make the choice we want so as to remain happy and not let age be a factor to influence our decision. Hence, we should stop making people conscious of their age. Let’s choose, learn, grow and enjoy! Let age be just a number!
