Passing down the old untaken street,
I gazed at the building,
Tall and high,
Rising and shining with pride,
Like a mother when she sees her son
After a long time,
Knowing it was my second home,
Spending most of the time there,
Before I chose the path to seek infinite knowledge,
I went to this very old person,
The windows opened wide,
And the gates creaking,
Making it look as if its weeping,
With no one there except me,
Hearing the voices of dead,
The laughs, the cries, the worries, the smiles,
All sealed in this very room,
Life is tough--that's what teacher said,
But they don't know what it's like every day
To wake up and go to school,
Give test and prove you're no fool.
Teacher said you didn’t try,
That’s when my throat went dry.
I put my effort, done my part,
They don’t know that I am smart.
Pressurised by mom and dad,
Why was I getting grades so bad,
No television, no game
That is how they used to tame
Even if its destroyed by Kronos,
The memories are still with me,
Etched deep in my heart,
I glanced back and smiled,
While it smiled,
Gave me a wink of light.
