What is foreign language? A foreign language is a language that is spoken by the people of another country than that of the speaker. It is also referred as the language that is not spoken in the native country of the person. As an example, that Italian is a foreign language to the native English speaker. Some children know two or more languages from birth or while they are growing up, they are known as bilingual and multilingual.

Foreign language education and learning – Children learn a foreign language from their parents who are either bilingual or multilingual, either have learned it from somewhere. And the other source of learning a foreign language is school and tuitions of the different foreign language.

Learning a foreign language in an educational institution today is compulsory. School provides the whole syllabus and different foreign language to choose to learn from. Foreign language education helps students to gets admission in best colleges after high school and even at the time of finding jobs, the companies prefer to bilingual and multilingual person.

Learning a foreign language has been just not about learning a new language, but learning a new language is also a good exercise for the brain. Critical thinking, cognition of mind and memory of a person improves when the person exercises and learns new language and practice a new language.

1.French – The French language is a most favorite language to choose by student to learn. The French language is usually mostly offered language to learn as an optional subject in the schools. French is third most spoken language in the world. It is spoken in 29 countries officially. And 53 countries have francophone who learned French as a second language.

2.German – The German language is also offered as an optional subject in the schools. Most scientists learn German. German is a very complicated language to learn than French language. It is mainly spoken in central Europe and it also has a lots job opportunity. German language is usually also learned by the students who wants to pursue their higher studies in Germany, Austria, Netherlands and Switzerland.

3.Spanish – Spanish is now getting very popular among students today.Spanish is quietly similar to French language, but some pronunciations are different. Spanish language is also spoken in many countries like Spain and Mexico.

4.Japanese – Japanese is a pictorial language and students get attracted towards Japanese language. It is very different from all other languages and its take a lot of time to learn even the basics. It is also related to Korean language. And mostly spoken in Japan.
