It’s strange how a miniseries on YouTube touches the right nerves and makes you nostalgic about your JEE preparation days, both in a good and a bad way…

The people who have somehow been associated with the “prestigious” IITs at some point in their lives will agree with me when I say, that TVF’s latest original Kota factory, while being cute and all, is brutally honest about the coaching industries that run in the city of kota. That dialogue, “Jiska yahan aake bhi nahi hua, uska kahin nahi hoga” is enough to describe the mindset of a student studying in kota, attending the rigorous coaching classes all day long, not doing anything recreational and sometimes losing themselves in the process…

I still try to figure out why I regularly went to these coaching classes for hours despite going to school too, and I realised it was all a waste cause I never really wanted to do it in the first place, I imagine all the things I could’ve done and learnt in those two years, and when I watched Kota Factory, I was relieved that I at least stayed with my family and didn’t pack my bags and left for kota.

The people who run these institutes are most of the times doing it for their own image, to try and emerge as the “Best coaching institute for JEE”, to try and mint more admissions each year, which takes it’s toll on the poor child, dialogues like “Toppers mere rankers Hai, baaki sab mere bankers Hai”, speak volumes about their mindset and character. Some of the students come from faraway cities, with their parents putting in all of their savings for the hefty fees of these institutions and leaving their child in an unknown city to fend for him/herself for the next couple of years, and what really sucks is that the kids have no say in this, Do they even like it ?Do they even want to do it?

Kota factory raises all these questions in a very respectful manner, and that is what you expect from a channel like TVF, the same thought led to its creation in the first place, to reach out to the younger generation who don’t watch television shows.

Not just Kota Factory, most of the TVF originals are highly relatable, they connect to the audience superbly, and we are able to live the shows rather than just watching them, the acting is natural, the issues and struggles faced by the characters are real, the locations and the stories are believable, and what not, and frankly, What more do we need?

I feel that more channels like TVF will help in making the people, more importantly, the youth of our country more aware and ultimately make India a better place….
