Even in the age of fully advanced technologies and much of our lives depending on machines,we still tend to believe in the age old customs and traditions without a second thought or thinking what is the science behind it.Even in this world full of questions like why or why so,some still follow the rituals blindly.Hardly do people know why do they follow these traditions and what good does it bring to one's life.People not only follow these beliefs because they were told to do so but also because it gives a sense of satisfaction after performing them. Some set of customs and traditions are limited to a group of people but some others are followed by a humongous amount,by almost all families out their.Few of them namely worshipping the peepal tree, ear piercing,no meat on specific day and so on.

Throwing coins in a river is an ancient practise which is believed to bring good luck. However, scientifically speaking, in the ancient times, most of the currency used was made of copper unlike the stainless steel coins of today. Copper is a vital metal very useful to the human body. Throwing coins in the river was one way our ancestors ensured we intake sufficient copper as part of the water as rivers were the only source of drinking water.Applying mehendi, also known as heena is also a custom which is practised during the wedding season.Mehndi can prevent too much stress because it cools the body and keeps the nerves from becoming tense.Starting with something spicy and ending our meal with something sweet, has a lot of science behind it.The significance of this eating practice is that while spicy things activate the digestive juices and acids and ensure that the digestion process goes on smoothly and efficiently, sweets or carbohydrates pulls down the digestive process. Hence, sweets were always recommended to be taken as a last item. There is also a scientic explaination for touching feet of someone elder to you. When they accept your respect which came from your reduced ego, their hearts emit positive thoughts and energy which reaches you through their hands and toes. In essence, the completed circuit enables flow of energy and increases cosmic energy, switching on a quick connect between two minds and hearts.

All the science behind these traditions is quite impressive and simply amazing to think about. Our fore-fathers started these traditions and customs with a positive mind set and is important for us to stay rooted to them.
