A Finisher Never Finished.

A finish is always important. May it be in any form of life. It is as important and crucial as the start. The finish matters. Make sure you finish in style!

A process involves a start and a finish. The process begins with the start and ends with the finish. Neither of these makes the process incomplete. Both carry equal importance. As a start gives good beginning to the process by laying the foundation to go on further positively , the finish makes sure you've ended it in a good way. It makes sure that the process is complete. It is not left in the middle.

Lack of good start or proper finish results in an disappointing process on a whole.
Now let us take a particular process in the game of cricket. "The process of run-chase. The process of a run-chase takes place when the team batting first sets a target for the opposition to win the game. This process of chasing ( scoring ) the given runs to win the game is called a run-chase.

Inorder to complete a successful run-chase , things should go in a particular way.

A good start is always required. It lays down the foundation for the other batsmen. Although , it doesn't happen that way all the time. One can never say or anticipate the course of the game. Anything can happen at any point of time.

As they say , Cricket is a unpredictable game. One can never predict a particular phase of the game.

A good start ensures that the run-chase goes on in a stable manner , but the finish ensures , how well can you end the game on a positive note. How well can you read the situations around and act accordingly. How well do you plan the entire chase. How well do you divide the number of runs to be scored with the number of available deliveries.

Now all this depends on how well does your finisher or the middle order batsmen namely the ones coming in at 6 or 7 play. Recalling this position , India have been blessed with the world's best finisher in Cricket history.

I'm talking about none other than "Mahendra Singh Dhoni".

Starting his career as a middle order batsman , Mahendra Singh Dhoni was promoted to open the innings. Doing complete justice to the promotion , he made sure he utilised and capitalised on his opportunities.

After that little stinct as an opener and a top order Batsman , he again went back to be a middle order batsman and got the "Finisher" tag.

It was only with time that MS went on finishing matches in style and made sure that India won respectively.

Bigger the occasion , bigger the responsibility. And much bigger the innings from the world's best finisher.

Who doesn't remember the blistering 91* on the World cup final when India were 3 down. He built a crucial partnership with Gautam Gambhir and took the team to a winning position where it was a run a ball situation. Although Gambhir got out unfortunately and missed out on a well deserved hundred , Dhoni made sure he was there till the end and India won the World Cup after 28 years at home.

One more memorable occasion was the final of the tri-series against Srilanka in West Indies.

India required 15 runs to win from the last over with only 1 wicket remaining. Now , what do you think might have happened with Dhoni on strike?

These are just two of the many occasions when Dhoni proved to the world that he's the best finisher of all time.

Although with age not being on his side and his form being poor , of late , people who have cheered him , also had questioned his batting.

Amidst all the criticism , Dhoni is as calm as always. He would rather answer the critics with the bat than his mouth. The bat does the talking.

Notably , he has the highest batting average for a batsman while chasing. His average is almost a whopping 100 (99.85) after batting for 77 innings. This stat itself proves that he is the best finisher of all time , the sport has ever seen.

With India winning the second ODI against Australia and Dhoni hitting the winning runs 55*(54), it looks like he is back in form which is the best ever sight the Indian team would want to see right now , with the World cup beginnig soon.
