When we think about aliens, what we feel is not actually aliens might look like. We see aliens through the window of sci-fi movies and novels.

We have not encountered any alien life yet or got contact with them. It is obvious that we should not think of them from the mental images we have formed about them. It is a great possibility for intelligent alien life to be far advanced than us. Their conduct of life and behavior can hugely differ from ours.

Purpose

Aliens might be super-advanced than us. For we human beings ants, squirrels these creatures are just innocent for us. We do not even think of competing with them or expect something for the. The same scenario might be the case with aliens. They are already advanced and developed that we are of no interest to them. Alien civilizations might view us quite differently. They do not want to destroy us or compete with us. It might be the case they are far more evolved and peaceful than what we can even think of.

Senses and Perception

Bats, snakes, and dogs, for instance, interpret surroundings in a quite different manner. They perceive things far beyond our imagination. Bats see and feel this world entirely in terms of echo and sonars. For snakes, this world is just like a thermal image. Dog's mind lives in a universe full of smells. consciousness of these creatures is entirely different from our consciousness. That might be the case with aliens too. For them, our world would be far more different than what we see our world to be.

Intelligence

One of the main threads in fabric of intelligence is ability to predict future, another is creativity and level of consciousness. Ability to simulate future requires a high degree of intelligence with ability to simulate future. If alien life is intelligent than us, then they would be able to see future way more clear than us, they would be able to project scenarios that we humans can not even dream of.

In short, with unique sense-perception abilities and future simulation capabilities they might see our world in an entirely different way without any special purpose or intention. Our civilization may seem rudimentary to them showing no sign of significant intelligence.
