Mary Teresa Bojaxhiu, commonly known as Mother Teresa, was born on 26th August, 1910 in Skopje. At a very young age, she felt a calling to be a nun and serve through helping the needy and the poor. She joined a group of nuns at the age of eighteen in Ireland. She had witnessed the two critical traumatic period in Kolkata- the Bengal famine of 1943 and the riots between Hindus and Muslims during the partition of India. She lived on minimal income and food and sometimes had to even beg for food. However, her efforts were soon noticed by the ordinary folks, and they too started helping her.

She spent many years in Kolkata, where she founded the Missionaries of Charity, which was devoted to helping those who were in need. She is a symbol of selfless and charitable work. She had so much love for the neglected that she had opened a home for the dying so that they could afford the opportunity to die knowing that someone cared. She was filled with humanity and love for every individual who was in need. She believed that serving others was the primary principle of Jesus Christ's teaching, and so she was there to help anyone who needed her. Even when she was herself suffering from various health issues, she was not demotivated to help the poor.

She was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, and the fund of $192,000 that she received was asked by her to give to the needy. She respected every individual and saw them with the eyes of love. She showed us how we could unconditionally love each other and wanted everyone to live in peace and harmony. She opened many hospices and orphanages for the homeless and the poor. So much was the love contained in Mother Teresa for everyone. She is an inspiration to all and gives the lesson of love and peace. If we could instill even half of the selfless love that she had, we could surely make this world a better place to live in. She was a humanitarian who devoted her entire life to the sick and the needy without any second thought.

All through her life, she kept faith in helping others and had given up every worldly pleasure. She is admired by many in this world because of her kind and generous nature. She used to say that we cannot do great things, but we can do small things with love, and these lines are so pure. Anything in this world when done with love and respect can inspire people and bring about a change in the world of the poor and the needy. Mother Teresa was a woman who had full faith in God, and this world will always remember her for her generous and charitable nature.
