Why do we live in a world where mere happiness is overshadowed by the dire need to be validated? Where the opinion of others matters more than your own opinions. This is a sickness which has spread like wildfire and has enslaved all of us to believe that it is of utmost importance to be validated. There exists this urge in all of us to be accepted and appreciated for our actions. It is as if we are held hostage and are asked to give away our true selves in exchange of mere approval and validation of someone. We value ourselves through the eyes of others. We declare ourselves worthless if we fail to meet their expectations. The only thing that brings us satisfaction is the assurance of gaining acceptance in the eyes of the world.

One of the biggest platforms for this cruel business of validation now is our beloved social media. What came to us as a highly efficient way of connecting and communicating with people over the globe has now become a malicious and corrupted creation. Thousands of people fall into this trap of seeking validation via the social media. Putting so much effort in clicking the perfect picture, finding the correct angles which compliment your face or body, selecting just the right picture to upload, trying out different filters to hide your little flaws, finding appropriate caption for the picture, constantly checking the number of likes. All this for what? For gaining validation from someone over the internet! To be virtually accepted by people you don’t know. It has become a sad reality of the society we live in which needs to be eradicated from the roots.

The fear of getting rejected has manifested our minds so badly that we cannot think to do anything beyond that. Even the thought runs a chill down our spine. In the process of getting approved by everyone, we gradually lose ourselves somewhere amidst. You strip the power off your selves and hand them over to others to use. You become a walking puppet run by the strings of social approval.

We must overthrow this system of living for others. It is same as not living at all. When the sole motive of our life is to please others, that is when our lives become truly worthless. We need to empower our innate ability to stand strong and do things that ignite a fire in our souls. Climb the mountain so that you can see the world not so that the world can see you. Life is like the open sky. Break the free from the cage and set yourselves free from these holds. In the end, the only thing that matters is you and you need to embrace everything about yourself because you are an embodiment of a miracle.
