The Legacy Of Biriyani In Kolkata!!

Whether it’s work pressure or heart break, your favourite dish can always make things better. To a Bengali ,happiness comes in plate of spicy and fine rice along with chicken or mutton. yeah!! It’s BIRIYANI!! And the main ingredient of a delicious Biriyani to a bengali , is not the fine rice it’s the big piece of mildly spiced potato which is accompanied by chicken , mutton and sometimes a boiled egg. The innocent potato has found it’s true identity in the BIriyani of Kolkata.

Although there are plenty of restaurants serving Biriyani in Kolkata , these are my personal favourites :

1. Aminia, Chinar Park

When you head to Aminia for Biriyani , you must try the Rezala as well, which is a delicious curry of coconut, yoghurt, cream and cashew nut paste, with perfect garnishing, once you have this combination you’ll definitely look for it the next time you have Biriyani.

While searching for the best Biriyani places in Kolkata , one of the most preferrable choice is this place. Apart from having Biriyani try the different Kababs served by this infamous dining place. Last but not the least , the delicious desert which is enchanting, if you are visiting Arsalan do try the Firni.

3. Nizam’s New Market

Nestled in the midst of one of the Asia’s oldest markets, Nizam’s will draw you in with waft of spices. This place is perfect for quick bites as well as home delivery. Having made a reputation for where Kathi rolls were invented. NIzam Biriyanis are best accompanied by side kababs.

4. Zeeshan, Park Circus

Zeeshan is where you head , when you are craving a super spicy plate of Biriyani. The reshmi kababs served by this place have their own identity, your plate of exotic Biriyani will taste doubly good , when paired with the former.

5. Shiraz Golden Restaurant , Park Street

The Chicken Biriyani and Chicken chaap found in this place taste incredible . this small eatery started in Mullick Bazaar now have opened 6 outlets throughout the city.

6. Dada Boudir Biriyani, Barrackpore

A family run , small eatery , Dada boudi ( Big brother and sister- in- law) serves Biriyani which is very popular not only among the locals but also with those who travel across the city for a plateful of this delightful dish. Do try the Mutton Biriyani, Chickenn Chaap and Liver fry if you ever visit this place.

There are several other places like , Dhaka Biriyani, Haji Biriyani , Kareem’s etc serving this enchanting dish which makes any occasion doubly special.
