Every one is familiar with Sherlock Holmes and his stupendous ability to deduce everything just by having a look at it. Sherlock Holmes has been a very famous detective and a very celebrated character after its portrayal by Benedict Cumberbach and RDJ in the TV series and movies respectively.

So is the art of deductions actually possible? In my view it is absolutely possible but it needs a person to be highly motivated to learn everything which will help you deduce things at one look. Since it is a matter of logic, from a drop of water, a logician can infer the possibility of an Atlantic or a Niagara without having seen or heard of one or the other. Since all of life is a chain, and a great logician can get to the start of the chain as it is a single link. Like all other arts, art of deduction can be acquired by a long and patient study of some particular subjects. A person can start by deducing a person’s past whereabouts just upon meeting, this can help as a great start.

But just like Dr. Watson dismissed this at first we all will too because it seems like a skill which is impossible to acquire. But Sherlock is different and learning all about human psychology, types of soil, types of tobacco, criminal tendency, anatomy of humans and a lot more can render a mere mortal helpless and make him crazy.

But for those who might actually achieve the unthinkable can be a great consultant detective like Sherlock or a great consultant criminal like Moriarty, it’s just that thin line of goodness which will decide the outcome. Fot starters let a person, on meeting a fellow being, learn at a glance to distinguish the history of the man, and the trade and profession to which he belongs to. Futile as such an exercise may seem, it sharpens the obervation part of your brain, and teaches one where to look for. By a man's finger nail, by his coat, by his sleeve, by his boots, by his trouser knees, by the care of his forefingers and thumb, by his expression, by his shirt cuffs - by each of these things a man's calling is plainly revealed and the person becomes like an open book. This all seems to be scary at first but all great things do at first, by working on human psychology and studying hard the subject of human emotions will tell you a lot about a person and warn you better off for some things. I am not trying to be a detective here but it is always nice to have an option open. When it comes to being a detective you can be like Sherlock or be like Bruce Wayne. Your choice.

Peace
