As I wrote a lot about Vivo, I guess there is no stopping as Vivo India has yet launched another phone, the Vivo S1. They have been launching a lot of phones in India lately and all of them have a good value. Last month, Vivo launched a phone under the Z-series, which is the Vivo Z1 Pro. That is an impressive phone too. I have already written an article on the Z1 Pro which you can check out here. But for your convenience, I will compare them both right here in this article so you can make a decision about which one to buy.
The Vivo S1 is mostly targeted at the offline market. While it will also become available for purchase via online sites like Amazon and Flipkart starting 14th of August, it is already up for grabs in offline stores. So let us first take a look at the specs of the Vivo S1 before we compare it with the Z1 Pro.
Let’s start off with the display. The Vivo S1 comes with a 6.38-inch Full-HD+ Super AMOLED Display with a resolution of 1080x2340 and a screen-to-body-ratio of 90-percent. An in-display fingerprint scanner is present. It is powered by the MediaTek Helio P65 MT6768 processor. The variant which is on sale now has 4GB of RAM and 128GB of Storage. A 6GB RAM variant is yet to launch later this month.
Coming to the cameras, the Vivo S1 has a triple camera setup which includes a 16-megapixel primary sensor, a 2-megapixel depth sensor, and an 8-megapixel wide-angle sensor. The front camera is a 32-megapixel shooter with an f/2.0 lens.
It packs a 4,500mAh battery which supports 18W fast charging but the awkward thing is that Vivo has given a Micro-USB port for charging instead of Type-C. But the Micro-USB port here supports USB-OTG. Talking about the software, it runs on FunTouch OS as any other Vivo phone which is based on Android 9 Pie. The software supports many camera modes AI Super Wideangle, Beauty Mode, Portrait Mode, AR Stickers, etc. as Vivo focuses on camera a lot.
So here is the comparison between the two. Take a look:
Display
It is a tie as both of them have a very similar display.
Camera
This one is a tie too as both of them have the exact same rear camera configuration. In terms of front camera both have a 32-megapixel shooter but the one on Z1 Pro is a hole-punch design, while on the S1 Pro you get a waterdrop notch.
Processor & Performance
The Z1 Pro is the first device in India to have a Snapdragon 712 Processor. While the S1 has the same MediaTek Helio P65 processor which we have seen in a bunch of other phones. So performance-wise, the Z1 Pro will fare out to be better than the S1. So this one goes to the Z1 Pro.
Battery
While both of them support 18W Fast Charging, the Z1 Pro has massive 5,000mAh battery while the S1 has a 4,500mAh battery. So the Z1 Pro will last you a bit longer than S1.
Fingerprint Sensor
The Z1 Pro here gets a physical fingerprint scanner on the back of the device, while the S1 has an in-display one. S1 obviously has an edge over the Z1 Pro as it has the latest technology.
Price
The Z1 Pro’s base model (4+64) starts at Rs.14,990. The S1’s base model (4+128) starts at Rs.17,990.
So this was the comparison between the two latest phones launched by Vivo. If you ask which one to buy, you can clearly see that the Z1 Pro is the winner here. But if you want the in-display sensor, a new gradient design, etc, you should go for the S1. The S1 here targets the offline audience, while the Z1 Pro is for online. The Z1 Pro has a better value for what it offers, as the latter is on the pricier side and lacks in some aspects like the battery and the processor if compared to Z1 Pro.
The Vivo S1 is already selling in offline stores as I mentioned above. It will be available on Flipkart, Amazon and Vivo’s own E-Store starting 14th August. Only the base variant is available for purchase right now which is the 4GB RAM and 128GB storage model while the other 2 variants will come later this month. Here are the full pricing details:
4 GB RAM + 128 GB - Rs.17,990
6 GB RAM + 64 GB - Rs.18,990
6 GB RAM + 128 GB - Rs.19,990
