Huawei has faced a huge loss in the past months as the US ceased to perform any business with it which were the results of the trade war between China and the US. But recently, Google confirmed that Huawei could still use Android as their main operating system. Huawei was already getting very popular around the world even before the crisis.

And now Huawei is continuing with its streak of releasing phones at a cheap price. A new Huawei device called the Huawei Y9 Prime has been launched in India and is the first device to be launched in the country after the US-China trade war.

The company launched the Y9 Prime today in an event in New Delhi, while the global launch took place back in May.

Specifications

Coming to the specs of the device, it is powered by Huawei’s own processor which is the Kirin 710 Processor. It was launched with 2 variants globally, but India will have to settle with only one of them. This variant will have 4GB of RAM and 128GB of Storage. It is a weird combo as the RAM should have been 6Gig considering the storage it offers and also its industry standard now. The device also has Micro-SD Card support and you can expand the memory up to 512GB. The thing to note is that it is a Hybrid SIM Slot which means you can either put one Nano SIM card and one Micro-SD Card or two Nano SIM Cards. The phone runs on Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box.

The device has a 6.59-inch Full-HD+ LCD panel with a pixel density of 339-ppi. The display is notch-less as the phone has a pop-up selfie camera which is a 16-megapixel AI shooter. Coming to the rear cameras, there’s a triple camera setup with the main sensor of 16-megapixels, a 2-megapixel depth-sensing camera, and an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens.

Huawei Y9 Prime has a 4000mAh battery, which can give you 44 hours of calling time,22 hours of Video Playback, and 9 hours of gaming according to what the the company is claiming. Though it has a Type-C charging port, sadly the devices misses out on fast charging which is a must these days and all of its competitors are having like the Redmi Note 7 Pro.

On the back, Huawei has also given a physical fingerprint sensor, unlike the in-display one. And one of the good things is that the company has kept the 3.5mm headphone jack while many are removing it.

Pricing & Availability

Huawei is offering the device online on Amazon India, and will also provide it offline through the major retail sales channels, Croma being one of them. The Huawei Y9 Prime is priced at Rs.15,990 and will be available in 2 colors which are, Emerald Green & Sapphire Blue.

The company is also giving you a free Huawei Sport Bluetooth headset worth and a 15,000mAh Power Bank which have a total worth of Rs.4,598 if you pre-order the device right now in the offline market. As for online customers, they will get Rs.500 cashback as Amazon Pay Balance, up to Rs.1,500 off with the exchange offer.

The device will go on sale on 7th August on Amazon.in and for the offline customers, Pre-booking of the device starts on 5th August, and the device will be available all across India starting 10th August.
