Asus’s First ROG phone was one of the best gaming phones out there in the industry. If you don’t know, ROG here stands for Republic Of Gamers. The first ROG phone was a hit and everybody loved that one. It came with some pretty cool accessories and some very cool features. ASUS, yesterday launched the successor to ROG phone 1. It is called the ROG Phone 2 and it has the best specs any smartphone could have right now. I’ll discuss them below.
The ASUS ROG Phone 2 doesn’t bring changes to the design much. But it comes with a very high bump in specs. First off, the display. It is a 6.59-inch 1080p OLED panel that is capable of 120Hz refresh rate, and also has an in-display fingerprint scanner which is an industry-standard now. It also supports 10-bit HDR. What’s interesting is, that the Touch Sampling rate is 240Hz. Means the touch latency drops down to 49ms which is the lowest in any smartphone right now and helps towards a quicker and faster action when you touch the display.
The phone is powered by a Snapdragon 855 Plus, and also let me mention that it is the first smartphone in the world to have it. Snapdragon 855 Plus is a minor upgrade to Snapdragon 855 and is more focused towards gaming smartphones as its clocked at 2.9Ghz and also gives 15 percent faster GPU performance. Asus also has a vapor chamber and vents that will prevent throttling.
The phone has dual cameras at the back one of which is the 48-megapixel primary sensor, and a 13-megapixel wide-angle camera with a 125-degrees field of view. As for the front camera, ASUS has given a 24-megapixel front shooter. The classic variant has 8GB of RAM and 128GB of Storage which can also go up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of Storage according to the variant you choose.
The Asus ROG Phone 2 comes with dual front-facing stereo speakers, packs a really very huge 6,000mAh battery on the basis of which Asus claims that you can play PUBG for 7 hours continuously with the refresh rate set to 60Hz. Now that’s amazing. And you won’t have to worry regarding the charging speeds as the device comes with Quick Charge 4.0 support.
One of the most appealing aspects of both the ROG Phone 1 & ROG Phone 2 is their accessories. Asus has also launched updated versions of the accessories that came with the first device. They have updated dual-screen TwinView dock, the ROG Kunai Gamepad, and the clip-on AeroActive cooler fan.
As the phone has only launched in China, global pricing is not available yet. The availability of the device is also yet to be revealed as the Global Launch is scheduled for the first week of September with India also being included in of those Global Markets.
