Giethoorn is a town in theprovinceofOverijssel, Netherlands.It has a population of about 2,620 people.

This small place is often referred as "Little Venice" or "the Venice of Netherlands." This magical place was founded around 1230.

A place which most of us dreams of, Giethoorn is a Village with no roads or any modern transportation. It has only canals and around 176 bridges to move around. Tourist visiting there need to leave their cars outskirts of the village and travel their either by foot or by boat. Whisper boats are used there which have noiceless engines. One can easily imagine about the peaceful environment here!

Earlier, Giethoorn used to be apedestrian precincet. It became locally famous, after 1958, when the Dutch film makerBert Haanstra made his famous comedyfanfarethere.

The first inhabitants here found numerous peat deposits. They dug many holes over the years and eventually these holes turned into lake.

The loudest sound here can be heard of a quacking of a duck and the environment is totally peaceful.

Giethoorn is a very popular attractions among Chinese tourists. The village is still only fully accessible by boat and ofcourse a dreamland to visit.
