Menstruation is a curse or a blessing? Are u feeling shameful of your periods? Answer.... No, I am proud of it.

Before independence of India the women were assaulted for being on a menstruation cycle. They were highly insulted in front of the society for periods. And now even after the Independence the women are not independent to even talk about menstruation in front of the society publicly.

What is menstruation?
Menstruation is a biological regular natural change that occursin the female reproductive system. It happens due to rise and fall of hormones. It is helpful in preparation of the uterus for pregnancy. This cycle makes pregnancy possible. It occurs every month, where it varies with 3-4 days of change or gap to happen in the next month.

People had made a perception that a women on menstruation is unhygienic. People thinks that menstruation is a "curse" to a woman. Being on a menstruation people finds women blood an impure blood. They believe that the blood which is impure will effect the society a harsh message. Nowdays every girl asks a question whether the menstruation is a curse or a blessing. Why girls have been so pressurized to even ask this question to themselves? This is all because of the society, their are unnecessary rituals and backward thoughts. I don't believe that how can people think that women who is bleeding is unhygienic. Freedom of speech doesn't mean that you have the right to insult anyone. I am happy as a girl that mensuration is a blessing. This impure blood through the perception of the society, is also a feeding blood to the child who is in the womb of a pregnant mother. Just because of this mensuration cycle ,the women feel bliss of being a mother. There are certain superstitions in our country that the women who is bleeding is not even allowed to enter into the kitchen ,worship God in a temple, to sleep in her on bed, go outside the home for a drive, etc. During those 5 days the girl is not allowed to enter the house unless the bleeding stops,so she has been provided a separate room which happens in certain villages. Not only in the villages but also in cities it happens. DuringMenstruation, the men in the house even doesn't consider them as the part of the family and thinks that she is from some other world.

Man talking about the virginity in front of the public is acceptable but women who is making awareness for menstruation to everyone about menstruation is the shameful act why?

Our body needs to be get cleaned every time that's why we take bath everyday,so in the very similar way during the menstruation the women also need sanitary pads to keep themselves hygienic. Using a sanitary pad during your periods is the safest instead of using the dirty clothes or napkins. There are many women in our country those who still cannot afford a sanitary napkin or they find themselves embarrassing to buy it. Many women even don't buy it from a shopkeeper if there is a male seller. Using a dirty handkerchief or napkins may lead to serious diseases and death where our society believe that talking about menstruation and its hygiene is a shameful activity. We are proud that a government has taken an initiative by doing certain events for creating awareness of menstruation, its hygiene and it causes. With the change in time and education system, every parent wants to gettheir daughters to be safe and hygienic and this menstruation is a part of a girls life cycle which is is not a shame but a beautiful gift from a God. Only uneducated people can think it is a curse but let me give a peaceful advice to all the men in the country that you owe the responsibility to your mother, daughter, sisters and wife to look after their hygiene. Show your anger in abortion methods, rapes, etc not on using sanitary pad. In Lucknow metro station, there is sanitary vending machine being installed where women can buy it which costs rupees 5 per napkin. This initiative from the government is highly appreciable and create awareness about a women menstruation cycle. This vending machine in not only installed in Lucknow but also in Kolkata airport, Delhi airport. Bhopal was the first to install this machine in airports followed by Ludhiana, Andhra Pradesh and many more. This initiative was started by Railway Women's Welfare Central Organisation and have also install this machine in various railway stations.

With the change in era, the change in thoughts should also occur. Being modern doesn't mean that the lifestyle should become modern ,your perception your acceptance, your movement and your ideas should also be modern. Girls stay proud stay hygienic visit in temples though God would never find you impure for the blood as it nourishes the womb in pregnancy.

Menstruation isn't about feeling squeamish, it is about staying confident ,proud, blissful and protective towards hygiene and lifestyle. We women are lucky that we have been provided with all the facilities and there are number of people who are supporting us in this very sensitive and important discussion. If you ever find a girl who is unaware about the usage of sanitary napkins do educate her because this can only be told by a female to the other female.
