Books are an unbelievably potent medium of changing our perspectives, if not our lives. While some of us may read for the sole purpose of capturing the essence of some fictional story, others live and breathe the experience that books provide. The world of books is entirely fascinating. For people going through a transition, some dilemma or even stagnancy of life, here is a list of 5 amazing, lucid and very simple books that is likely to change your perspective.

1) The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

The Alchemist is a book that explores the story of a young boy's dream to find his purpose in life and hence is a book that will eventually help you find your purpose. The book shows that the journey to your destiny is as important as the destiny itself.

2) How To Win Friends And Influence People by Dale Carniege

It is one of the most important self-help books on how to deal with people. Dale Carnagie explains how to positively influence people and he does it by telling useful stories that teach important principles. One of the best quotes for me from the book is “It isn’t what you have or who you are or where you are or what you are doing that makes you happy or unhappy. It is what you think about it.”

3) Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki

The book tells about a young Robert Kiyosaki who had two dads- a rich one and a poor one and the stories follow their course from this point. It’s divided into lessons about money that one needs to learn in order to become rich. What it also teaches, is how to alter our perspective to earning money. It is simple, light and thoroughly interesting as you wouldn’t find your curiosity dropping for a moment. It provides valuable life lessons through simple fictional comparisons.

4) The Secret by Rhonda Byrne

The Secret, which discusses the Law of Attraction and how to use it in your life, rose to the top of many bestseller lists and now it has a cult following. The book introduced many people to the concept that how positive thinking is important and that their thoughts may influence not only their actions but the experiences that they bring into their lives as well. The essence of the book is the power of our minds, which if harnessed ideally, can usher positive changes in our lives.

5) Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman

Kahneman’s book deals with how our brains think, as well as touching on other aspects of psychology. It is a book which is lucid, profound, full of psychological insights and self-help techniques. It talks about the dual system of human decision making, and eventually goes on to explain what factors have an effect on our thought process. It is engaging, helpful and a must-have for every person who attempts to understand the complex human psychology.

These are only a few amongst the entire gamut of self-help books that help us shape our perspective. I hope you try these out and tell me if there are some you like in particular. Thanks for reading.
