When do you really know you are over something? Is it when you stop thinking about it or is it when you stop feeling it? Is it when you just box it up or is it when you stop talking about it?

There are a thousand ways you can say to another person proving your point that you’re over it. But you’re never entirely over it. You can never be over something that deeply used to concern you. You can remove it from your “speed dial emotions” for sure. But if you see something similar around or if you’re forced to talk about it, you’ll fall into a million pieces just like the first time. You never get over something you held closest to yourself. No matter what you do or how far you throw the memories away. If you hear it’s name or it’s voice, you’ll die a little inside just like the first time.

Months and years pass, but that one sudden day all the emotions come back to you. Your heart is basically scattered all over the floor. You wipe off a few moments but there are still a thousand more reminding the same incident.

How do you really escape?
I’ll tell you. You don’t. You relive those same emotions a thousand times and will learn to live with them. The only thing that can happen over the years of this hide and seek is that earlier you were afraid to look into the mirror while remembering the bits because your eyes were so full of tears and burning red and the vision was beyond blur that you were scared to have another breakdown, but now, you remember those things and sit quietly for a while thinking about them over and over again and show the littlest of your smile and think that you’ve been through it a thousand times. It’s time you carry it with you as an experience and not as your fear.
