The 100 year old film industry has a rich history. From Dosti to Sholay to Zindagi na Milegi Dobaara to Raazi, it has some wonders under its cape. Names like Priyanka Chopra, irrfan Khan, Anil Kapoor and Anupam Kher have not just captures Indian recognition, but have put India on a global map as well. Go for a trip through the Film City, Mumbai someday, and you will realise the amount of hard work the cast and crew put together in a film. It is all not as rosy as it seems.

Viewership of films has also embraced some change- they care more about the content delivered. This is why even big banners and big names fail at the box office sometimes. Content is king, as they say. Which is why so many content- heavy books are being converted into films.

However, in my view, there are still some negatives about Traditions-refusal

to give equal pay, recognition and value to its female leads. Women act as eye candy, only to be seen as dancing girls to please women. This cycle is toxic, as it sadly influences the minds of the public. Actors should realise their impact and reach, and act accordingly. These traditions must change with changing times. Nepotism should not block fresh talent from appearing on screen.
