Many of us are not our usual selves during period. That abdominal cramps, regular visits to toilets hoping to find clean underwear, the feeling of wetness, irritations fill up those days for us. Happy period is still a distant dream for many. What can we do to make that distant dream a reality?

Foresee it coming

Have a regular calendar to note down your bleeding days every month. Now a days many phone applications offer you this service. This way we can be ready with our sanitary pads and antibiotics.

Choose your sanitary pads wisely

Resorting to tampoons and menstrual cups are sustainable as well as it relieves you from the fear of stains. But many find it difficult to use the product. Consequently a large number of women still resort to pads. Keep in mind the flow one has during period while choosing sanitary pads. Thick and long for heavy flow days and thin ones on lesser flow days would be a nice way to go. Avoid plastic and other non biodegradable products based pads as possible. We don’t want our nature to weep because we bleed.

Keep your tummy full

This is a very subjective opinion which works for me. My crams are a lot better when I stuff my tummy with food . Good food gives good sleep – the best way to get rid of the cramps

Drink a lot of water

Drinking water warm water preferably eases the blood flow and reduces the abdominal cramps to an extent. Be ready with your bottle on your periods. Drink your way through the pain. Trust me..it helps.

Physical activity

You might feel like not getting up from the bed. The comfort of a pillow pressed against the stomach and warm blankets seems too tempting to be abandoned. But very slight form of physical activity like a slight walk through the house can prove to be much relieving.

Antibiotics

When it is beyond control antibiotics must be taken after consulting a gynaecologist. Consulting gynaecologist is essential as many of the antibiotics have side effects . So we must take this decision wisely.

Distract yourself

Many of our problems related to periods like mood swings, irritation comes from the constant memory of it . So distracting yourself by reading books, watching movies or any other thing that pleases us can suspend this constant memory

Period is a biological necessity. Rather than spending time in cursing it let’s try to keep it under control. Periods may not be the best part in being the girl. But let’s just not ditch our girlhood for these 6-7 days.
