FC Barcelona is widely regarded as one of the best and biggest football club of the world. Be it fan followings or the trophies in the cabinet, they have all that could signify a big club. So for being one of the best club, it's normal that their fans would expect they will win every possible tournament, but it's impossible to win everytime. As of now their new priority is UEFA champions league which they haven't won for the past 4 years.

After the departure of Neymar Jr from FC Barcelona in 2017, the attacks were all depended on Messi to score goals as Luis Suarez also had lost his golden touch by then. Dembele though had shown glimpses of his talent but he tore his ligament and was out for almost 4 months. So, it was literally all upto Messi last season as the legendary Andres Iniesta also left the club after playing for nearly 16 years, the midfield looked quite below par. And Messi played his role to perfection last season as he ended up being top scorer and made most no.of assists in Europe's top 5 leagues.

In the 2019-20 season Barcelona had spend some heavy money on their new signings to strengthen their team. Frankie De jong, the 19 year old midfielder has already shown glimpses if magic in the pre- season tour. Another major signing is Antonie Griezzman. He is no new face in the football world. He played a major part in France's 2018 Fifa world cup winning campaign. He is expected to play in LW and as CF sometimes. Barcelona is also pursuading hard to get back Neymar for a huge price.

Under manager Ernesto Valverde Barca bottled up 3 goals lead in UCL against AS Roma and Liverpool respectively in two consecutive seasons. Valverde was highly criticized for being too defensive in his approach on both the occasions. Most of the fans were so devasted on some of his decisions that they wanted FC Barcelona to sack their coach Valverde.

In 2019-20 season Barcelona's first priority is to win UCL and it is not unknown. Barcelona didn't made many mistakes last season but the very few blunders which they did proved to be too costly specially in UCL. Lionel Messi and his team will be desperate to win the UCL this season. With Messi & Griezzman in front and Dembele at bench we can expect Barcrlona to rule against the top European teans in UCL. Barca's midfield also looks compact and there will be intense competition between midfielders to grab the playing XI spot.

My idea is that to win the UCL Barcelona should first need to stick to their basics and play their natural game. Valverde needs to be careful while making plans because the knockouts of UCL is almost at the end of the season,so it's natural after a long season the players will be tired. Valverde's most of the tactics seems to be too defensive. There should be a perfect balance of aggressiveness and defensiveness. Secondly Valverde should ensure all the players are playing in their comfortable position because he has the tendency of changing players's positions, which seems unnecessary. In attack hopefully Griezzman will take some burden off from Messi in creating chances and scoring goals and will help Barcelona lift the Champions League trophy for the 6th time.
