Best way to come out of confusion is to lock yourself in a room and asked yourself that why are you upset, your heart tries to answer own it own and understand it as it's only you who will avoid yourself in going to depression. Try to remain happy all the time.

You're not alone in this. Many of us feel the same and have been in your position. I was extremely inactive in my first year.

You probably lack energy. Both physical and mental. I guess you skip breakfast a lot. That's just an assumption I'm making but if this is the case, the first thing on your list MUST be to have breakfast every day! Follow this religiously (even if you're an atheist :P )

Now to improve mental energy, do meditation. I know you might have heard this one from many and that's because it helps. When you wake up (well waking up early might be another problem to which there's a technique I'll tell in a while), drink a glass of water and meditate for 2-5 minutes (it might not last long at the beginning, but once you make it a habit, you'll be able to extend it up to even 10 minutes) Remember,if you follow a task for 4-5 days, it becomes a habit. The actual quote mentions it as 20 days, but 4-5 days can get your mind excited to continue the routine.

Now that your energy is back let's talk about your college life. Let me quote from South Park, "There are a time and place for everything, and it's called college!"

This pretty much sums up the motivation that you need but take it positively. Don't get into smoking/drugs etc. (have the guts to say No!) It's great that you're aware of what people around you are doing, but there's no point in comparing with them. In any term! So stop doing that. You're your competition.

Anyways, the point is, it doesn't matter what happened in the past. All that matters is that you wake up now! Metaphorically and Literally!

Realise the potential of your brain. If you haven't already, let me explain with an example of the sound. You can tell that the sound is coming from your left/right because your brain can calculate the tiny amount of time difference between which the sound wave hits your left and right ear. If it hits left ear first, you know the sound is coming from left. This time difference is extremely small and yet, your brain can tell! How? It's way too smart than you think it is!
