"Beyond the cities, beyond the states and even beyond the countries,
We travel, we travel, away from home
New phase of life, new place, new friends, we set up a home away from home."

Almost all of us face this situation at some point of time in our life, when we have to go fly off to a new city/country leaving our homes. Though full of excitement and positive experiences, there will be growing pains and difficulties along the way. Whether your move is for a few years of studying, or perhaps for the rest of your life, in order to make it peaceful, being proactive about integrating and adapting to a new life is key. We meet new people and make new friends and this way a new social life is established which gives us a feeling of home. But in all this hustle and bustle, we neglect one of the most important thing of our life, 'our family'.

In the excitement of moving to a new place, we get so involved in our lives that we oftenforget about those whom we’ve left behind. The journey of separation from home is as hard for our parents as it is for us. For them, the pain of separation can go far beyond than simply missing their son or daughter after they're gone. Such times may lead to 'EMPTY NEST SYNDROME', an informal term for the sadness, grief and loneliness felt after a child leaves home. This syndrome is a wellspring of multiple negative thoughts and in some rare cases it can result in depression as well. Not every parent is affected by the empty nest syndrome as some parents find it quite liberating while for others it becomes difficult to cope up with such situations and may also affect their quality of life.

All those adults who live alone often feel that they are emancipated from all kind of restrictions or controlling influence and feel independent to make their own decisions but on other hand their parents who are familiar with the real world, sometimes feel guilty that they'll not be to protect their child . Of course, as a parent, they hope there will be a day when their children will completely transform into well adjusted adult and have the confidence and capability to head on, out into the world and flourish, but we adults need to understand that how much they are concerned about us and even a little of our efforts can make them happy. So try to take a few moments out of your busy schedule for you parents, just to acknowledge how you are feeling and how much you love them. In the end, your kith and kins are the only ones most likely to be there when you need them the most.
