Josep “Pep” Guardiola Sala was born on 18th January 1971 in Santpedor, Spain. He is a former Spanish national and is the manager of premier league club Manchester City. He one of the most successful managers of all time, he is considered to be one of the best managers of all time. He holds the record for the most consecutive league wins in La Liga, Bundesliga and Premier League.

Guardiola was a defensive midfielder and was creative and technically gifted defensive midfielder. He started his career with Barcelona in 1988 and continued to appear for Barca for another 14 years, he formed a partnership with Johan Cryuff’s team that won the club's first European cup in 1992, and four successive Spanish league titlesfrom 1991 to 1994. He went on to captain the team for next four years, he left barca in 2001. He appeared for the Spanish national team 47 times.

In May 2008, Guardiola was announced as the manager of Barcelona. He made changes as per his needs and made he got the right players and which made sure he was successful at Barcelona. Guardiola's debut as a coach was in the third qualifying round of the Champions League, in which Barça comfortably beat Polish club Wisła Kraków4–0 in the first leg at home but went on to lose the second leg by a goal. Barcelona was defeated twice in a row and this they were defeated in the hands of newly promoted numancia in the opening match day of the la-liga but the team recovered well from those defeats and went on an undefeated streak for over 20 matches to move to the top of the league consequently winning the title since 2006. On 13th may 2009, Barcelona beat Bilbao by putting 4 goals past them and won the Copa Del Rey. In the champions league, Barcelona had beaten Manchester United 2 nil in the final. Barcelona became the first Spanish team to win the treble. Guardiola finished the calendar year 2009 with 6 trophies.

In January 2010, Guardiola became Barcelona's longest serving Spanish coach. Guardiola coached his 100th match for Barcelona's first team in February 2010. He racked up 71 wins, 19 draws, and 10 losses, and his team managing to score 242 goals and only conceding 76 goals. He became the first manager in Barcelona's history to beat Real Madrid four times in a row. Barcelona beat Sevilla 5–3 on aggregate to win the2010 Supercopa de España, his second in a row. On 8 February 2011, Guardiola extended his contract by one more year, signing a contract until June 2012. A week later since signing the new contract, barca were defeated by arsenal in the first leg Champions League first knockout round. The defeat prolonged Guardiola's record of never having won the away leg of a Champions League knockout tie, barca did overturn the deficit in the second leg and were in the quarter finals of the champions league. Barca went on to win the league unchallenged and on may 28, Barcelona beat Manchester united 3-1 at Wembley to win the champions league.

In 2011, Guardiola had wonSupercopa de España and UEFA Super Cup final 2 nil against Porto. Pep had won 12 trophies in 3 years. In November of the same year, Guardiola managed his 200th match for Barça's first team. He racked up 144 wins, 39 draws, and 17 losses and scoring 500 goals and 143 goals conceded. Barcelona failed to win the la liga that season and were knocked out of the champions league by Chelsea. Pep decided to resign as the manager of Barcelona in 2012.
