Todays, Information Technology or the Internet web has become an integral part of everyone’s life. Since the digitalisation drive by governments across the world, internet penetration has been increasinging, so is the cyber crime. Cyber crime can be defined as any crime realting to internet and computer. The future is all about internet. It will revolutionise the entire virtual world, so will the cyber crime at the same time.

Today, all most every possible thing can be done through intenet. Be it banking, investing, learning, health services, socialising etc We are in the era of 4th Revolution i.e the world of technologies. Use of Debit cards, credit cards, wallet payments, online transfer etc has put the web crimanals more active. To protect the virtual world from these cyber attackers, a lot of effort is required from the entire community, in the form of strict laws, awareness, robust anti hacking measures and equipment.

Cyber crime can be in multiple form like hacking, phishing, spamming, online harassment, terrorism radicalisation, child pornogrphy, hate crimes, stealing personal data, finanacial hacking , piracy, copyrights issue all involves web crimes. And the worst part of all these cyber crime happenings is that most people arent aware of these crime types and get victimised to it. Moreover, these professionals hackers take advantage of this unawareness.

To be honest, social media platform has been the breeding ground for cyber crimes. Socila media is drving the world crazy. These social media information are very sensitivly utilised by the cyber criminals to plot their actvity of data thefting and hacking. Increase in technology and smartphones has further increased the crimes in the internet world. Even, the UN reports has showed that as the internet penetration increases the vulnerability of cyber crimes becomes more vulnerable. Malwares like wannacry, iloveu etc have destroyed many online data. Even government installations are the victims of cyber crime. Eg Maharashtra bank atm Informations was hacked. Bank of Bangladesh payment system was hacked by some russian hackers.

Some cautions to protect your data and other losses:

  • Never share your personal information like bank card nos. , Cvv no. , or Otp with anyone.

  • Never entertain unknown calls, messages and emails

  • Never click on suspicious email links, websites

  • Always use https website, be careful while surfing the net

  • Never share sensitive information on social media platforms

  • Do not keep atm pin in your wallet or phone. Instead memorize them

  • Report fake social media id

However, the biggest concern with regard to cyber crime is that it gets tough to uncover the indentity of the crminals. A skilled law amd people awareness is needed to deal with the crime. There will always be new and unexpected challenges agianst the cyber criminals and cyber terrorists. We should create and ensure safe, secure and trustworthy computing environment.
