South India's largest tea-growing region, Munnar in Kerala, often known as the Kashmir in South, is an easy access to the stunning emerald-green tea plantations. The scenery is just next to 'the most beautiful' with low Western Ghats.

Sunlight might seem blazing when you're here above the clouds watching the mist decorating the mountains like fluff of cotton appearing as one like in fairy tales.

Where do you find Flora and fauna at Munnar?
As tricky the question seems so are 'Flora and fauna trickier to spot here in random places.
Due to severe habitat fragmentation from the creation of plantations, flora and fauna are specially cared for at special sites.' Kurinjimala Sanctuary ', the' Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary', Manjampatti Valley and Amaravatl reserve forest of Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary ' and several other sites are there to protect the species.

Neelakurinji, the most popular Flora to witness, which blossoms once every 14 years is the talk of the tourists swooning the region at that lucky year.

Among Fauna, favorable and supporting conditions are being provided at those reserves to several threatened and endemic species including Nilgiri Thar, grizzled giant squirrel, the Nilgiri wood pigeon, elephant, the Nilgiri Langur, the sambar, and

Climate
The region in and around Munnar has variable heights : from 1450meters to 2695 metres above sea level. During summers the temperature is cool lying between 15° - 25° Celsius whereas during winters it's 5°-24°Celsius. Temperature as low as - 4°Celsius has also been recorded in Sevenmalley region of Munnar.

SPICES :

Whether it's tea or spices one can fill a lot of freshly sprouted spices ranging from ginger, cardamom, pepper, cinnamon, coffee, clove, nutmeg etc. Also chocolates of all sorts, white, dark, liqueur filled with nuts are up for grab too.

STOLLING PAST THE TEA GARDENS
Scenic hills covered with green foliage, aromatic tea gardens and just soothing greenery. Here is grown the country's finest tea leaves in making.

One can even witness the tea-processing at TATA Tea Museum which is one of the century old tea factories. If you visit here during June and July, I remember how beautiful it was while waking through these gardens with the sky just drizzling by!

And oh, no far from these gardens can you see majestic waterfalls which just make the region all the more pristine and yes blessed with 'God's own country'.
