“Plugged in , not charging “ is a common problem which we all come across when we use laptop.
• What is the main problem which this indicate :

It is a strange notification which we commonly see in taskbar mainly about battery as the name.itself suggest. We commonly charge our laptops to 100% but see the depletion in the battery and when we slide the pointer to battery mark it shows “Plugged in , not charging “.

• Assumptions :
This is a distressing message . So what does this mean actually? Is this in positive sense or negative ? Will the battery discharge or will live longer than expected time !!

Mainly this notification can come if :-
• Battery preservation software is doing it’s work
• Battery needs recalibration
• Defect in AC adapter
• Wrong with battery drivers
• Battery itself is defective
Let us see the reason for this message in quite detail :
• Battery preservation software is doing it’s work:
Laptop losses it’s efficiency when we continuously charge it when it is already 100 % . And it work's with good efficiency when it is little less than 100% .By keeping battery of laptop little less than 100%, laptop manufacturers claim that this helps in extending the battery's life . That is why in some laptops battery preservation effect gets activated when battery is in 90- 100 % range or some times at lower percentages .

Some companies stop charging further when charge in laptop reaches approximately upto 100 % and their range of activating battery saver is between 50 – 60 % .

• The battery needs recalibration:
In our laptop’s their should be a coordination between battery and window itself . That means actually our battery is full but still , window is showing partial charged . In this case we should sync window and the battery back up by recalibration our laptop battery .

• Defect in AC adapter :
AC adapter sometimes remains inn good condition but still not working efficiently.This can be corrected by checking the connection between adapter and laptop or adapter and power socket or any other place .

Sometimes , it may happen the adapter has some internal problem i.e may be problem in transforming voltage from AC supply to usage voltage .So , in this case we should try a new adapter if we can acquire.

• Defect in battery drivers :
Sometimes batteries do not get charge properly because of the defect in battery drivers. This can be corrected by reinstalling battery drivers . Reinstalling battery drivers should be done by the person who is pro in this field .

Still the basic steps to do this is :
1. Go into device manager
2. Find “Microsoft ACPI – compliant control method battery “
3. Uninstall device
4. Turn off laptop and remove battery
5. Hold power button ( to get rid of any residue charge )
6. Replace battery ,turn on laptop
7. Re – install battery drivers

• Battery itself is defective :
Majorly we face this problem that our battery is getting old and losses it’s charge . In this case there are two best way to deal with it :

1. Check battery health in service station
2. Try a new battery
