BOYS DO NOT CRY, BUT MEN DO.

All of us often have heard the phrase that “boys do not cry ,they make others cry” but is that really true . To a certain extent it is and all thanks to the society who just feeded this in their heads , “ you are men and no men is weak and the person who cries is weak”. Aman’s life is not as easy as all of us think, probably it is just because the topics are not being in the eyes of people.

Whenever we talk about sexual offences , the pictograph that runs down our mind is a girl probably being raped because of the fact that she was in a wrong place at a wrongtime ,or a lady being abused or an acid attack on a women , but is that it? That is probably only one side of the coin which shows boys are the culprits but why is that , that no one shows that the culprit is too the victim at times, though the ratio is less but still a significant number prevails. Why does the thinking prevails that the masculine gender cannot be victims of rape? Why is it said to be shameful when a men cries?

The answer lies in the stereotype of men, considering them as the ones to protect themselves and their families and considering them not to be weak. But is it true, that crying is a weakness , I don’t think so. Just remember the last time you cried , didn’t you felt better? Why can’t the fact be recognized that they are to human beings and they are not weak when they cry or tell you any other problem they are facing. Just because of this stereotype they hide their emotions which is the reason of the maximum number of heart diseases occurring in men.

Do you remember when the last time any news channel had a coverage for male rape , I do not remember though. But there is case I remember ,the victim was 12 years of age and a resident of Karnataka .He was living a wonderful childhood that included spending the day studying , playing and lots more stuff, but he was not aware , what the destiny had planned from him . As usual he was on the way to schoolbut was caught by few people and was drugged and kidnapped. When he woke up to his surprise, he realized that he was no longer a boy. The fact was that the victim was drugged hormones till 3 months on a regular basis to change him to a girl and then was sold for prostitution in Mumbai. But his good luck helped him and he was soon rescued from the place . But why was not this news shown anywhere? The answer was that he was a guy and the stereotype would had broken then which is not acceptable by most of the people. And the unbelievable fact that it is not one story alone, there are daily almost 10 boys being raped and the incident is not informed anywhereand that is just because of societal thinking that “ men’s can’t get raped”. The factor that masculine rape victims cannot not tell their problem to the people around leads to many problematic effects, including emotional and physical trauma . It is noted that 45% of male rape survivors developed physical injuries. The other effects include PTSD, suicide attempts , depression , homophobia and the fear of being of becoming an homosexual.

BOYS DO NOT CRY - SAID THE SOCIETY
DON'T WE HAVE FEELINGS
DON'T WE HAVE EMOTIONS
DOES CRYING MAKES US WEAK
DOES IT DEPRIVES OUR SEXUALITY
WHY ARE WE MOCKED WHEN WE CRY"- ASKED A BOY
THIS IS HOW IT IS - REPLIED THE DISDAINFUL SOCIETY

There is a significant change in societal status of a girl as compared to earlier but that should not be it. In the present scenario the need is to change the age old thinking prevailing for the males too.
