The Mania That Never Ends..
India is a country of celebrations in all the forms. Birthdays, Weddings, Success Parties and what not, we Indians never stop celebrating. Now where there are celebrations, there are goodies, presents, gifts. You name the occasion, we Indians will be there with big boxes of gifts. Now there are different forms of gifts which are present in our country. We love shopping especially to buy gifts. Now there is an entire process that goes on in this gift purchasing. If we are really in the mood to buy gifts, we will surely go out and out on a gift shopping spree.
Next, if we are tired, we put money in gift covers and give it to the receivers with "With best wishes from...." written on them. Now the next situation is very funny. I will go slightly out of the topic but will soon come to the point don't worry!
We all have a shelf where we put all the vessels(steel utensils) which were gifted to us but never use it but always have a place in our houses. Now here comes the part where we are very lethargic. Since we become lazy to even step out we try to dig into the things which we do not use but have kept them in good conditions. Yes I think now you are getting what I am talking about. We try to put the best piece into a box with a good wrapping paper and a card with "With good wishes from" written on it.
Yes, these things happen. Maybe the level of this mania has gone down but yes they do exist especially in our households. And then funny incidents unfold.The same gift may come back to you, say within five years( if we have those many celebratory occasions). You may forget it, you may not.
I remember an incident where a friend of mine gifted another friend a beautiful mug on her birthday. The other friend (being lethargic) gifted the same mug to the same friend who had given it to her on her birthday. The birthday girl recognised it and the room was filled with loads of laughter.
Now you get it. We Indians are unique in many ways. This "Mania" is one of those. But this mania brings smile on everyone's faces.
Let this mania continue, who knows you maybe the next person joining it ;) Enjoy!!
