Remember when we used to buy pen refills instead of buying a new pen? And the upgradation from pencils to gel pens to ball pens in school was our affirmation of maturity?

Here are a few cool things from the 90s that will make you a trip down the lane of nostalgia.

1. We had cassettes guys. Oh my God!! (Nostalgia is hitting me already) Today's generation will never understand the essence of listening to songs on radio and cassette tapes. And how can I forget the sheer pleasure of rewinding the cassette tapes with a pencil or a pen?

2. I had chunk loads of collection of Beyblade and playing Mario on Nintendo 64 was a hell lot of fun. And of course, the internet wasn't a craze back then so we had waterful ring toss and brick game and it saved us from not sleeping in afternoon after lunch (because Indian mothers' obsession, can't help it), obviously after playing kitchen set or doctor-doctor or chor-police.

3. Apart from just football, cricket and badminton, our childhood has more memories of games like ooch-neech ka papda, 7 tiles (pitthu), stapoo and of course poshampa bhai poshampa and what not.

"Poshampa bhai poshampa

lal quile mein kya hua

sau rupey ki ghadi churayi

aath aane ki rabdi khayi

ab to jail me jana padega

jail ki roti khani padegi

jail ka paani peena padega

ab to jail me aana padega"

And the famous rhyme to choose the denner of the game-

"In pin safety pin

in pin out

khelna hai to khelo

varna get out"

(pretty weird and illogical but funny at the same time)

4. "Vicco turmeric nhi cosmetic, vicco turmeric ayurvedic cream..."

and

"School time, action ka school time..."" etc.

I mean no advertisements in this time can replace these ads and back then watching advertisements was fun and especially eagerly waiting for your ad to come so that you can sing along the tune.

5. Ok, this is my favorite thing about the 90s. THE SONGS. I don't know where to start from because I can write a thesis about my love for old songs. From "main koi aisa geet gaoon..." to "chaiyya chaiyya" to "o o jaane janaa...", these songs are evergreen. Let me tell you, young 20s born folks (I might sound rude but yes), remakes of old and gold songs are really crap. The originals have a beauty of purity which can never be regenerated.

Also, those cringe-worthy songs like "channa ve har aaja arey...", "ole ole" and "sona kitna sona hai...", were and is still our *go to dance songs*.

6. Oh my god!!

Champak, Chacha Chaudhary, Archie, Akhbar Birbal, Supandi, Chanda Mama, Billoo, Nagraj, Panchtantra, Tinkle and countless on my hands. These were the comics we have grown up reading to. All the train journeys of my childhood were incomplete without any one of these comic books, buying them from the railway station and passing the time in a train reading those amazing stories ( Now I feel like traveling in a train just to read these comic books again).

7.Outfits in the 90s have no match with the outfits in the present time. Also, the heck was our fashion sense back then !? (hahaha)

8. The cartoons that this generations watches would have ruined my whole childhood if I had to watch such cartoons. These kids will never know what Oswald, Noddy, Dragon tales, Scooby-doo, Tom & Jerry, The Flinstones (who had a dinosaur as their pet and used to run their car with their feet, I mean what ever! haha), Popeye the sailor man, the mask, Dexter's laboratory and what not. And how badly we wanted to have a best friend like Bagheera and the title song of "Mowgli" can never be replaced by any cartoon.

9. The summer holiday homework given to us back then was fun and amazing. Pasting pictures, drawing, coloring and what not. And remember that kit of art supplies? Every one of us must have had this, I am damm sure about it.

And if you remember this then your childhood was awesome.

Ah!! Those days were stress-free, the things we used to worry about were like what will happen in the next episode of pokemon? will the team rocket win? and literally all the stupid things you can ever imagine. The only thing that excites me about getting old is that I will get to say "hamare zamane mein to" to my kids (hu hu ha ha ha - evil laugh).
