Vanishing Blue ....

India has 16% of the global population but only 4 % of the total freash water resources . Children from 100 million houses across the country lack of safe drinking water today and as a66 result one out of every two children are malnourished .

Although India has made improvements over the past decades to both the availability and quality of municipal drinking water systems, its large population has stressed planned water resources and rural areas are left out. Regardless of improvements to drinking water, many other water sources are contaminated with both bio and chemical pollutants, and over 21% of the country's diseases are water-related. In addition, water scarcity in India is expected to worsen as the overall population is expected to increase to 1.6 billion by year 2050.

It can be called an irony as India being a tropical country with a wet climate ,we still lack of avaibility of water . With the growing population we have explioted our water resources to such an extend that now we are left on the edge of nothing for our future .

More than 15,000 villages are facing draught today adding to the water scarcity conditions of the country .

Inspite of this , more than half the number of rivers the country are unsafe fordrinking water due to pollution .

This is not it . This situation is going to get worse in next few years . And India it self will be responsible for it's own destruction.

More than 64% industrial waste across the country is dumped into the water body without proper treatment , in addition to that more that 40 % cities of india has no proper sewage treatment facilities and hence even that gets disposed in the water bodies . This not only reduces the freash water resources but also damages the aquatic ecosystem there by indirectly damaging the biodiversity .

It's high time we realise the importance of water . If this kind of damage continues futher , India will suffer from a terrible condition in the near future ,with people even ready to kill each other for a bucket of water .

Let's be responsible citizens and try to save our country from this ! Let's save water and not waste it !
