Contentment is the feel of feeling happy because everything is okay or is going good. It is more pacific than elated and more lifelike than usual. It is being in a state of mind that “what I have is enough for what I want and what I want to get, and I am hopeful that I will achieve it.” Such a feeling lets you be in a stable state of mind, in touch and in harmony with the environment. You understand what’s your worth and are able to appreciate it. Contentment lets you be happy, hopeful, hungry, calm, jealousy and lets you grow at the same time.
The feel of contentment makes you feel very simple, but the idea of contentment is very complex. It is a complex recipe of varied spices, vegetables, main course, etc. Contentment is feeling all emotions at the same time in right proportions, to make to feel alive and present. More like an “emotional chat”, serves the purpose of khatta, meetha, tiikha, all kind if tastes.
How do we get to state of contentment? By living by what one feels. By keeping feelings as the undercurrent and underlying variable. The feel of joy and worry interact with each other to product contentment. The feel of happiness and hope interact to make a feeling of contentment. Similarly, the feeling of hardwork and good results, the feeling of love and care, the feeling of success and improvement, etc.
Contentment is the celebration of life, of emotions, of your achievements, your ups and downs and of happiness and sorrow. It is being in a state that that is the delicate balance of life. The balance all of us strive to achieve. The balance that proceeds the self ahead into the future.
There is a difference between contentment and satisfaction. Satisfaction is more towards happiness and contentment is more towards the balance of all emotions. Satisfaction settles, contentment progresses. Satisfaction is a state of mind,(the mathematics of give and take are equaled), contentment is an emotion. Satisfaction is neutral, contentment is over and above.
I wish all of us achieve contentment in all times in our lives. Needless, to mention, it is above happiness.
